What browser do you use?

Looks like it's a promo for Mr Robot, which is really not ok.

> What's happening? Are you a fan of Mr Robot? Are you trying to solve one of the many puzzles that the Mr Robot team has built? You’re on the right track. Firefox and Mr Robot have collaborated on a shared experience to further your immersion into the Mr Robot universe, also known as an Alternate Reality Game (ARG). The effects you’re seeing are a part of this shared experience.[0]

EDIT: looking at this[1] comment, perhaps it's not a promo?

proaralyst··on Ask HN: Why don't websites show password requirements at the login screen?
password1 and reasonable mutations of password are probably present in the top 10000 passwords.

If that's not the case in general, a good benchmark would be 'can hashcat break this given a reasonable mutation pattern'. The zxcvbn project pretty much provides that.

The biggest argument for maintaining net neutrality is so that ISPs don't provide worse service to websites competing with their own products. The most obvious case there being Netflix vs your cable company's streaming service. If you get high latency and frequent video stutter when using Netflix but not for your ISP's version, you'll use that. Even if the cause of that stutter is your ISP.
proaralyst··on SEC Shuts Down Munchee ICO
I think it's because ICOs give you a tradeable token; kickstarter contributions cannot be traded for profit.
proaralyst··on Ask HN: Why don't websites show password requirements at the login screen?
I'd add 'not in the 10,000 most common passwords' to that requirement.

I got one leaked! The provider of my VPS (sold/leaked?) their entire customer base by the look of the CC field. Lots of +galaxyhostplus

proaralyst··on Firefox Private Browsing vs. Chrome Incognito: Which Is Faster?
a) is it shilling if it's self-promotion? Edit: a quick check in a dictionary points out that a shill is someone pretending to be impartial. I'm not sure Mozilla could do that about their own browser.

b) if they didn't make noise about this no one would try to switch to this fairly big release. It's a bit like the hype around Firefox 3.

But I trust Mozilla more with my privacy and I don't want to watch ads at all!
proaralyst··on Using Cryptocurrency Smart Contracts to Sell Shares of My House
I think the greatest barrier here is in verifying the real world house price at exit on the blockchain. I, as an investor, would have to trust someone to verify this for me. At which point it may as well not be on the blockchain.

And in another bonus doesn't appear to require tokens.

I think this is a service I'd use if it were available as an extension rather than a browser in its own right.

In the Quantum Thief (actually one of its sequels) by Hannu Rajaniemi, there are Secret Names that perform magic; one of them was 'Emergency Decompression Protection' and produced a shield around the incanter.

Rest doesn't mean Json, just that communication is stateless. HTTP itself is a Rest API.

proaralyst··on Colorls – A Ruby script that beautifies the terminal's ls command
I'm not arguing for a monochrome shell with no information; my current prompt is:

[user@hostname:path](git branch)$

There are colours highlighting these sections. What I'm referring to is the multi-line prompts with dates, times, uptimes etc that surely just clutter up the history view?

proaralyst··on Fedora Loves Python
There've been a bunch of good answers already but I'd like to add another: the package manager (DNF) is _significantly_ better than APT. Parallel downloads, delta updates, automatic cache refreshes, all in one command, fast and with good feedback during updates.

Red Hat took $2.4 billion in revenue last year.[0] I trust them more.

proaralyst··on Fedora Loves Python
The PEP does say `should' and that a future PEP will require the python command to be Python 3.x.

Given a default Fedora install does not have the python command but does have python3, I'd say it's 3.x by default.

proaralyst··on Colorls – A Ruby script that beautifies the terminal's ls command
I don't understand the very tricked out shells people have. Surely all those colours and bits of information are just noise that distracts over a longer shell session?
