So everything stays exactly the same?
I think this is mostly true in the US and a cultural thing.
In EU and SA for example I can buy “whole” food - just called food here - for a fraction of the price it would cost me to buy a bunch of cheeseburgers or some other junk food every day.
Everyone knows that vegetables are good for you basically always.
Superfoods are just the latest marketing fad
In my case there is a monetised proprietary “enterprise” edition of the projects available. Contributions only get accepted if they fit into the commercial roadmap, which is shaped by the (paying) customer needs.
It’s not perfect but the OSS “community” edition is still usable and valuable to many
Trust me I tried many many times.
This has nothing to do with Google being evil it’s just one of the realities of maintaining a big open source project.
90% of contributors won’t read it at all or only some parts of it and ignore the rest.
Most PRs you get solve some super specific individual problem and aren’t relevant for the wider community that uses your OSS.
It’s not their fault really but most contributions are so bad it doesn’t serve to spend any time on reviewing them earnestly.
(Been maintaining several popular projects for the last 7 years)

Hell no
I just was feeling some type of way seeing that comment and wanted to vent thx for listening
(As a musician) i never invested in a personal brand or taking part in the social media rat race and figured I concentrate on the art / craft over meaningless performance online.
Well guess who is getting 0 gigs now because “too few followers/visibility” (or maybe my music just sucks who knows …)
But is insulting the president evidence of being in a “terrorist organisation” ? I thought free speech was the one principle that is untouchable in the US
Fwiw I haven’t noticed either phenomenon much irl but that might just be my bubble.
Too little or too much shame can lead to issue.
Problem is no one tells you what too little or too much actually is and there are many different situations where you need to figure it out on your own.
So I think sometimes people just get it wrong but ultimately everyone tries their best. Truly malicious shameless people are extremely rare in my experience.
For the topic at hand I think a lot of these “shameless” contributions come from kids
Unless I have been reading very different science fiction I think it’s definitely not that.
I think it’s more the confidence and seeming plausibility of LLM answers
I’d rather track everything in a giant excel tyvm
I can’t speak for other EU countries but in Germany people will buy the cheapest food almost always. Quality or farmer welfare is a minor concern for the majority.
What hurts EU farmers the most is the big supermarket cartel that controls prices and pushes farmers to produce more and more cheaply (and consumers that react extremely sensitive to every price increase, but that’s a more inconvenient truth)
In fact we could produce for example in Germany milk in a sustainable and very environmentally friendly way if it would just cost a couple cents more, like 10 cents or even less. But consumers will basically riot if you raise the prices there so the supermarket chains don’t do it and instead put more pressure on the farmers to produce cheaply.
If you read the MERCOSUR agreement then you’ll see there are a ton of protections included against the thing you are afraid of.
