poseid··on Marvin Minsky dies at 88
RIP Marvin Minsky http://thinkingonthinking.com/marvin-minsky-passed-away/
poseid··on How to draw every street in a country with Node.js and SVG
nice project, I also like SVG and JS for visual experiments
poseid··on Embedded Programming with the GNU Toolchain
indeed, the AVR tools are nice for starters - I wrote some thoughts about those a while back on my blog: http://thinkingonthinking.com/an-arduino-sketch-from-scratch...
poseid··on A tutorial for GNU libmicrohttpd
this is maybe interesting for embedded development too, I played a bit with a basic webserver for Arduino a while ago: https://github.com/mulderp/arduino_webserver - but libmicrohttpd might offer more convenience
poseid··on Embedded Programming with the GNU Toolchain
that is a nice initiative! My main resources for open-source ARM programming were https://github.com/muccc/arm-workshop/tree/master/mvp and https://github.com/LimiFrog/LimiFrog-SW
poseid··on Programming Languages: Application and Interpretation
the main reason I'd look into programming languages is because I feel some problems can't/shouldn't be solved with the same tools that created the problems. Problems that are currently not solved: Dealing with low-level systems programming, building parsers for data
poseid··on Show HN: Wsq – WebSocket task queues
also, how would you add custom events to the tasks, e.g. process data from a "button", "slider", ...
poseid··on Show HN: Wsq – WebSocket task queues
is this something like dnode? I used dnode for RPC style programming between an Arduino and web server: https://github.com/embeddednodejs/ch_8_entering_the_cloud/bl...

possibly your lib could make the setup nicer.

poseid··on Designing an Intel 80386SX development board
indeed, this looks interesting how to do stuff with an fpga, but for basic embedded projects, I think arduino can lead much easier to results. this project looks also hard to reproduce elsewhere.
poseid··on A Parser Combinator library for C
nice!
poseid··on Thimble – An online code editor
nice! reminds me on a better processing IDE
poseid··on RaspBSD – FreeBSD images for the Raspberry Pi
might be nice to have this freebsd on an intel edison too
poseid··on Antimony – A fresh look at CAD software
interesting concepts. some examples look like graphs.
poseid··on New Johnny-Five site
nice, even with a blinking LED
poseid··on How to Build a GCC Cross-Compiler for the Raspberry Pi
thanks for sharing! understanding how to cross-compile is increasingly important for upcoming (cheap) embedded hardware. maybe related a blog post on compiling a sketch for Arduino: http://thinkingonthinking.com/an-arduino-sketch-from-scratch...
poseid··on MVC Family Tree
interesting graph. would be interesting to see what part of MVC is related to system software vs. web MVC
poseid··on JavaScript libraries to draw your own diagrams
interesting things! visual languages for the web are increasingly important, I discussed some viewpoints on this with d3js and processingjs here: http://thinkingonthinking.com/visual-languages/
poseid··on Compiling an Arduino sketch from scratch with GCC
there is also this discussion on github https://github.com/Pinoccio/js-stk500/issues/7#issuecomment-...
poseid··on Ask HN: Which hardware manufacturer writes the best datasheets?
atmel and ti - but they are dense too
poseid··on Compiling an Arduino sketch from scratch with GCC
I am actually looking for an easy way to get started with new Arduino projects. Some kind of "npm run build; npm run upload"; for embedded code, and then focus on the host part
poseid··on Show HN: An Arduino in the browser (prototype)
will be coming - the main thing is using svgify to transform svg into inline javascript. the interaction is done with the Backbone MV* approach: http://thinkingonthinking.com/fast-start-with-backbonejs/
poseid··on Show HN: An Arduino in the browser (prototype)
this is more of a spike towards https://www.npmjs.com/package/chrome-serialport - connecting the http module with long polling is not too difficult for reading. otherwise sockets are probably cleaner. for the asm.js approach, what blocking points did you experience?
poseid··on Massimo Banzi: Fighting for Arduino
indeed, would be interesting to see more gcc coverage for ARM e.g. as in these examples https://github.com/muccc/arm-workshop
poseid··on Ask HN: Cool Arduino projects
there is a topic for this on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/ArduinoProjects
poseid··on Ask HN: What's wrong with my JS?
without putting value to Angular, many companies that say "works in Chrome" mean "developer friendly". And from "developer friendly", it seems a small step to Angular. Maybe because many developers don't want to invest time learning real JS.
poseid··on Ask HN: Isomorphic Hardware, what would apply?
"does not mean... " -> what does "isomorphic" mean to you? that would help me. thanks!
poseid··on Ask HN: What's wrong with my JS?
this requirement:

"it also only need to work in Chrome – no IE testing necessary"

sounds like they had a preference for AngularJS. I guess your eventEmitter solution was too advanced for that company.

poseid··on DIY calculator: HP30b to WP34S
anyone has suggestions for sourcing/making custom number pads?
poseid··on Teensy Z80 Part 1 – Intro, Memory, Serial I/O and Display
great low-level hackings, interesting to see an LED board for debugging. I was thinking on something similar some weeks ago, see http://ledlogics.com
poseid··on Integrated Circuit design for the IoT
good points. maybe it is more about datasheets, examples, demo's, kits, ... that suits to open sharing. Not for nothing TI is becoming a major open-source contributor. Same for Atmel via Arduino.
