Anyone read the source and find the 98% accuracy stat? The source link has a UTM source of ChatGPT. Could it be a hallucination?
popupeyecare··on What If We Had Bigger Brains? Imagining Minds Beyond Ours
I often wonder if human intelligence is essentially just predicting words and phrases in a cohesive manner. Once the context size becomes large enough to encompass all a person history, predicting becomes indistinguishable from thinking.
popupeyecare··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (May 2025)
Hey!

Let's chat! Postcardlove.com was a small side project that I created while working on the larger project. I think I can use PostalAgent for that project.

I love threekidnwords.com, I remember reading a blog post that you wrote. I also love your website.

For the pricing, I just picked what I thought I would pay. I have been using it to send postcards to myself and my wife!

I'll check out slowmorainbow.com!

popupeyecare··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (May 2025)
I’m working on https://postcardlove.com — a super simple site that lets you send real postcards using a photo from your phone. No login, just upload, write, and send.

It started because I wanted to send my sister an old photo for her birthday, and instead of using CVS or Shutterfly like a normal person, I ended up building it using Bubble and Lob.

Now I’m exploring the B2B angle — a friend asked if I could do postcard mailings for her medical practice. Curious if anyone here has experience with postcards for outreach or marketing?

popupeyecare··on Ask HN: How would you launch a privacy-first, Instagram-like social network?
Thank you for your post. I've been working on a similar concept but for super close-knit groups, think families, college friends, etc. (less than 10 people/group). I was going to incorporate some mechanisms to encourage posting since if no one posts, it'll die.

I felt like this is a problem I have. I want to hear about my friends’ lives, but no one posts on Facebook/Instagram anymore. And my feed is now constantly influencers.

However, after hearing all these comments/experiences, I will be pivoting! Thanks you for your post and saving me a headache.

Thank you. You don't know me but your story and life has had a profound impact on my perspective on what’s important. Thank you.
popupeyecare··on Launch HN: Metriport (YC S22) – Open-source API for healthcare data exchange
Congratulations!

I’m a huge fan of Metriport, Dima, and the whole team! I’m constantly impressed by the strides you are making in addressing this significant problem. I often brainstorm company ideas just to have the opportunity to use Metriport.

What about one of those office booths/privacy booths?
popupeyecare··on Why do patients leave against medical advice?
Anesthesiologist here. Pain sucks. It’s notoriously hard to treat. Hard to measure. And most of our treatments for it have real, often life threatening, side effects.

I get no greater pleasure as a doctor as to when I get someone painfree. Luckily I have some tools, like nerve blocks, which help in certain cases but even that’s limited.

Pain just sucks.

popupeyecare··on I tricked myself into working out 3 times per week
My friends and I do something similar.

We text the group- gym 1, gym 2 etc as we start our workout. Anyone can say “proof” which means we have to send a selfie. If you don’t do 3 gyms in a week, there is some penalty which no even remembers or enforces.

popupeyecare··on Show HN: Modern Memories – Letters written today. Delivered in the future
Modern Memories creates “kits” which contain stationery for the recipient to fill out and mail back to Modern Memories. Each kit contains four letters, which we will mail back in the future (6 months, 1 year, 5 years, 10 years later).

Modern Memories is a concept and product that I wanted for my daughter. I want to send letters to my two year daughter, Navia, so she can receive them as she grows older. Even better would be letters from her elderly grandparents so even if they pass, she will one day receive a letter written in their handwriting.

Everyone loves the feeling of finding an old letter and reminiscing about forgotten days and departed loved ones. That's what we hope to replicate.

The kit comes in a beautiful box and contains stationery to write the letters , a pen , instructions, and a return envelope . The user provides their information and recipient information (along with contact info for other people incase we can't reach the recipient in the future). The stationery contain guided and blank pages. Guided templates ask questions such as “Describe something funny involving you and your grandchild”. The sender can also include a few photos with captions and we send them with the four letters.

We will routinely reach out to the recipient via email to keep the most up to date address on file. We will send the letters at appropriate times. Soon we will have a dashboard so the writer can change information on their own.

We are launching with 3 kits-

PARENT KIT - Geared towards parents and grandparents writing letters to their children and grandchildren

LOVE KIT - For romantic partners to write letter to each other

The above kits have letters delivered in 6 months, 1 year, 5 years and 10 years.

RESOLUTION KIT - Letters written to yourself to help keep track of your goals and aspirations .

Delivered in 3 months, 6 months, 1 year and 2 years.

COVID

This pandemic has been incredibly isolating for families. As healthcare workers ourselves, we have felt and seen the impact of this isolation. For each purchased Modern Memories Kit, we are donating a kit to patients in the hospital. In the future, we want to donate to schools so students can write letters to themselves.

What if we fail? We have already collected letters from family and friends and are personally writing letters to our daughter. If we fail, we will still send out everyone’s letters. If for some reason we cannot, we will mail back all letters. We are keeping them safe with forever stamps already placed on them.

Price? We are currently offering each kit for $19.99. No subscription or random hidden costs. Free Shipping in the US.

popupeyecare··on Launch HN: ShiftDoc (YC S17) – On-demand healthcare staffing marketplace
Thats a great idea. In the future, we do plan to offer 'virtual training' to get professionals familiar with the EMRs, etc before picking up a shift. Currently, people tend to post what software they are familiar with and offices usually hire professionals that have used that software or ask the employee to come in early and get trained.

Thanks. We agree that the concept lends itself better to some specialties like ER, Anesthesia etc. I would love to hear more about your experience if you have a chance. - amit@shiftdoc.com
