pluc··on What happened to the Snowden archive
Eh, the outrage never really materialized into anything worth continuing the leaks. Look at the Epstein files. "They" can just wait it out.
pluc··on OpenAI's Sam Altman to Brief UN Security Council Next Week
How's AI doing in Russia with all the sanctions and whatnot?
pluc··on Veronese's Dogs
I see a few:

On The Wedding Feast at Cana, black guy in green sitting at the leftmost table speaking (or about to kiss) a guy coming from behind the pillars

On The Feat in the House of Levi, two guys near the fourth pillar from the left behind the black man in black (yellow shirt and green shirt), another black guy in red at almost exactly the same spot from the other side

they're not yelling or anything but pretty sure their mouths aren't shut

pluc··on Dear Customer, Fuck You
Missing the two call to action buttons: fuck me and fuck you
pluc··on Warez: The Infrastructure and Aesthetics of Piracy (2021)
I remember being contracted to build an XDCC search engine that would connect to IRC servers, get XDCC lists from bots and then put that list up on the web to make everything searchable in one place... it was my first "we don't host anything" defense and people did not know what to do with me
pluc··on Korea raises data breach fines to 10% of revenue
Every single tool being released since like 2024 is pushing everyone to care less and less and to let agents handle more and more. We are not trending towards increased quality, resilience and reliability - even though we've been obsessing over these things for the past 20 years.
pluc··on Show HN: Microsoft Office running with Wine on Linux with no virtualization
I'm not talking about WINE, I'm talking avout what you had Claude build to use it.

If this were a proof of concept and you had the ability to say what you did different to make it work better than previous attempts that would be great, but i don't think you know.

pluc··on Show HN: Microsoft Office running with Wine on Linux with no virtualization
It's cool to see things that were entirely unnecessary popping up with the help of AI. Nobody ever cared enough to do this, nobody is going to use this, but now we can just shit it out knowing full well nobody is going to care. Just had to sacrifice humanity's knowledge and a few professions to get there.
pluc··on Microsoft exec called AI scraping 'the largest theft of labor in human history'
My bad, I assumed everyone knew parent. Quick click on his profile will tell you what DD is.

pluc··on Microsoft exec called AI scraping 'the largest theft of labor in human history'
Lots of the original content is no longer available. Bots kill sites, AI kills monetization - both results in the original material disappearing.
pluc··on Microsoft exec called AI scraping 'the largest theft of labor in human history'
Has it affected DD as deeply as it as affected software engineering? Guessing clients feel a lot more "empowered" or "independent" and knowledgeable these days? I liked doing DD, just as much as I enjoyed developing, but it must be dying a slow death too. What's changed in how DD reports are produced?
pluc··on Don't Just Say Hello
Hello's an established communication protocol that allows the speaker to verify the target is available, listening and ready to initiate a conversation. I've only ever seen this site quoted to defend people's brutish behaviour. If we're going to discard centuries of consensus, I say why stop there.

If you gotta call someone for support, do you say hello and wait for them to say hello back or do you just unload your question?

pluc··on Don't Just Say Hello
Why stop there, you don't need all words

pluc··on Microsoft says AI rival Anthropic could have 'disastrous impact' on humanity
Well done
pluc··on Can we stop with the uptime percentages?
We've stopped with our caring about quality and understanding so I don't see why we'd keep caring about reliability and availability. How are you going to pinpoint performance issues when you have no idea how your app works?

Point the AI at your logs, tell it to fix things, rinse and repeat. It's faster than debugging, and fast is good.

pluc··on OpenAI expands ChatGPT ads with Sponsored Agents
How else are they to monetize text outputs? This was always the plan and it's going to get much worse (or better depending on which side of the fence you're on). Google did the same thing when it controlled web indexation: ads, sponsored results and SEO. All of these things will be coming to agents: you will be monetized or you will be paying not to be.
pluc··on Why I'm still bearish on LLMs after Navier-Stokes
Or just blink every time you see a period and hopefully miss the next letter
pluc··on Learning Programming in an Age of LLMs
> I think people can learn faster than they used to

Agree, but that only applies for people who were experienced developers before AI took over. Let's see in 5-10 years what our caliber looks like when you skip the foundations.

pluc··on Adversarial Fashion Makes a Statement on AI Panopticon
They've made covering your face illegal in lots of places before the pandemic made it obligatory. We had protests here where people wore masks and masks were swiftly banned. It's ok for police though.
pluc··on Show HN: Kinesis – Control your Mac with the Meta Neural Band
Discoverability is the degree to which something, especially a piece of content or information, can be found in a search of a file, database, or other information system. Discoverability is a concern in library and information science, many aspects of digital media, software and web development, and in marketing, since products and services cannot be used if people cannot find it or do not understand what it can be used for.

pluc··on Show HN: Kinesis – Control your Mac with the Meta Neural Band
Kinesis is already a word and an Amazon product, might have better discoverability naming your project something unique and specific.
