pluc··on The Mafia may be keeping fentanyl out of Italy
There's been a criminal civil war raging between HAs and every other smaller org that wants to expand (look at Blood Family Mafia specifically, Arab Power as well). HAs have lost some feathers in pretty gruesome ways. They're all older and neglected to replenish the ranks in order to preserve prestige. Street gangs didn't. If I'm competing in that world, I'm funding the underdogs until leadership trembles, then we make a deal. I believe we're at that point now. All those groups - including the Sicilians - have all been slowly invalidated and Angels are appearing more stable/powerful these days (even though we just outlawed their colours - but even that gives them prestige).
pluc··on Uproar in France over award-winning author accused of using AI
I guess you can pick between that and the propaganda provided by the AI peddlers, they surely have nothing to gain telling everybody what they want to hear
pluc··on Uproar in France over award-winning author accused of using AI
Because it's an anonymous twitter account dedicated to scanning and identifying AI usage in published works?
pluc··on The Mafia may be keeping fentanyl out of Italy
This was the way it worked up here (in QC) with the 81s. If you sold shit that could draw attention to you, your organization or suppliers, you were swiftly taught not to. They had decent quality control, but as their grip slipped so did quality. Now we get fentanyl overdoses weekly.
pluc··on Dutch governments builds alternative for Microsoft based on NixOS
I hope you're aware AI vendors are running the exact same playbook these days. Don't want AI? Fuck you here's some AI on your toothbrush
pluc··on LinkedIn wins court order blocking mass scraping of user data
Meanwhile, AI-generated slop sites that slurp up open APIs on ATSes are eating LinkedIn's lunch for job search. Very few companies are using LinkedIn as the place to manage applications, most are pushing to LinkedIn and redirecting to their ATSes.

pluc··on Hackers influence ChatGPT and Gemini to direct users to scam centers
You can't count on that, but quantity increases visibility don't it, and it takes a single prompt to spit it all out. Couple that with social media bots and you've got a decent modern and super cheap propaganda machine. Now imagine you toss millions of dollars at that idea.
pluc··on 'That's so AI ' What gen Alpha's biggest insult tells us
I can't wait until a model slurps this up and answer "What is AI?" with "AI is a pejorative term inferring low effort and dubious quality". Mmm-mm.
pluc··on Hackers influence ChatGPT and Gemini to direct users to scam centers
That's happening across the board when it comes to models that feed off online information. Create a website with a false claim, have AI slurp it up and spit it back out when a user asks a question.

Happy elections.

pluc··on OpenAI agent hacked Australian government website, PM says
They've largely avoided compensating for everything they've stolen to build their technology upon; these people know that they will never face consequences for their actions. Ask for forgiveness, not permission.
pluc··on 28% of job postings on company career sites have been open over 90 days
I found the "AI tailoring" on par with the rest of AI - it's completely untrustworthy. It makes shit up on my resume because it's in the job description when I have no experience in it. We've always had this technology, it's called lying. It may be great to get your foot in the door, but once you have to justify it you're gonna have a hard time.
pluc··on The mystery animal on an ancient god's head
There is no conclusion in this article if you care about such things.
pluc··on DoorDash Spent $1.4M Trying to Stop Mamdani from Becoming Mayor. Now We Know Why
Your identity isn't considered of value to you, you can't monetize it. We can, but since it has no value to you, give it to us for free.
pluc··on 28% of job postings on company career sites have been open over 90 days
These sites are popping up to exploit job seekers because the legit alternatives (linkedin et all) blow.

pluc··on Montreal adopts bylaw banning insults against police, municipal employees
Quotes from the mayor (in French) who reassures us all that we can still flip off officers, that law will never be abused.

pluc··on 9 Ads per Minute: FIFA Cup 26 – "the price of the beautiful game"
You make it relevant instead of merely making it present.
pluc··on 9 Ads per Minute: FIFA Cup 26 – "the price of the beautiful game"
I didn't
pluc··on 9 Ads per Minute: FIFA Cup 26 – "the price of the beautiful game"
Yeah I don't watch basketball or baseball or football so I don't know. Those are US leagues for US sports for US people, with one team to pretend it isn't.

pluc··on 9 Ads per Minute: FIFA Cup 26 – "the price of the beautiful game"
Marketing is the art of fucking with discoverability so that your shit gets discovered instead of what is relevant.
pluc··on 9 Ads per Minute: FIFA Cup 26 – "the price of the beautiful game"
The same goes for international matches, no ads on jerseys.
pluc··on 9 Ads per Minute: FIFA Cup 26 – "the price of the beautiful game"
I understand they're being paid to wear their sponsors logo. I am not.
pluc··on 9 Ads per Minute: FIFA Cup 26 – "the price of the beautiful game"
The jersey thing is completely insane to me. I'm from North America where jerseys are largely NBA, NHL and MLB. No ads (although, NHL has started). But the euro jersey has the biggest ad dead fucking center.

I understand the concept that the kit colours is what identifies the team, but still, I can't justify wearing a giant advertisement. If you gave it to me, I'd refuse it. Fuck you, pay me.

pluc··on Disney+: New user agreement allows ads before movies in all subscriptions
I'd argue that since TiVo, if you're showing ads because "we don't have an alternative", you actually want to show ads or at least won't make any effort to implement a 20 year old technology for the sake of convenience.
pluc··on A Necessary History of the Oddest Letter: W
I have Weimaraners - they have the same problem and it sounds ridiculous with a French W. Braque de Ouais-mar instead of Veimaraner, can't stand it so I call them by their German names.

Sorry about your name though, I'll do my part in our area
