plausibility··on FlyWeb – An API for web pages to host local web servers
>It's crazy to me that there AFIAK aren't AirDrop clones. Little know, but there is! Snapdrop[1] does this via WebRTC. Pretty nifty, but I've rarely ever seen it mentioned or used. Solves the XKCD problem, at least for intranet stuff.

plausibility··on Tomb: File Encryption on GNU/Linux
As far as I'm aware from my brief use of tomb, it's a small shell wrapper around GPG and dm-crypt[1]. I suppose realistically anywhere you have access to the required tools (or something that pretends to be them but does platform-specific stuff underneath) you could use tomb.

plausibility··on [meta] 4chan technology board satires hacker news, hilarious
Some of these are, I think, quite spot on. > [825] How we plan to burst the bubble with our niche startup!
plausibility··on The secret codes of British banknotes
Those online fax sites posted here the other day should definitely implement this "feature".
plausibility··on Fuck Microsoft

It's the same for .meme, which is owned by Google if I'm not mistaken.
plausibility··on Individuals with social phobia have too much serotonin
I've had a similar experience. Taking SSRIs (Sertraline, initially 50mg/daily, now 100mg/daily) for social phobia and depression. They definitely helped increase my baseline for positive feelings (i.e., I don't spend as many days curled up in bed feeling hopeless), but it's true that it brings down other aspects of life. Decreased sexual function, loss of emotion in other areas, stuff like that.

I wonder whether serotonin is really the magic trick to increasing moods or whether it's just a stop-gap solution that works well enough for most.

plausibility··on CSRF protection bypass due to Google analytics and weird server cookie parsing
Is that so? I've had GA blocked with HTTP Switchboard since I installed it, and never come across a site which required me allowing it. Some sites need me to turn off Chameleon so that they recognise Flash or something, but GA's never been problematic.
plausibility··on Looking Up Symptoms Online? These Companies Are Tracking You
You can use GetTor[1] to download it via email. If you send an email to gettor@torproject.org with the body content `windows`, `linux` or `osx`, they send you a reply with a download link to Dropbox.

Then you need to verify the integrity using information they provide on their site.

That's the point of Chameleon[1]. I've got it installed, and the issue is a lot of websites assume "oh, they don't have $plugin (e.g., Flash) installed", and don't fallback to something reasonable. So there are edge cases where you'd have to disable it. Otherwise, it's pretty effective.

plausibility··on The sad state of sysadmin in the age of containers
It's also (one of the) recommended ways to do it for Docker[1]. I've noticed a few blog posts that touch on "here's how to use Docker for X" suggest piping it straight into `sudo sh` without so much as looking at what's going to be run first. Sigh.

plausibility··on Snapchat Phone Number Database Leaked
"exclusively" - as opposed to those torrents, the mega mirrors and personal mirrors provided by reddit and hn members, right?
plausibility··on Snapchat - GibSec Full Disclosure
From what I've read they're actually cached somewhere on the device - if you restart/close the app, you lose the ability to replay stuff.
plausibility··on Researchers publish Snapchat code allowing phone number matching
Well find_friends exploit is one of them - my favorite was one found by clever/you [1] which leaked _any_ user's phone number because they weren't validating auth tokens correctly. That's long since been patched, and rightly so - definitely more dire a situation than war dialing.

You got a reply from Snapchat? Are you some form of warlock, because I've yet to see them reply to many people.
plausibility··on Python Flask NSA Backdoor
That's actually what this was based off of, funnily enough!
