piyuv··on Gamers Are Overwhelmingly Negative About Gen AI in Video Games
There’s a section “The Specific Use of Gen AI Matters” in the article. Arc Raiders uses GenAI to voice npc characters. I wish it didn’t, but this is not something that’d affect gameplay much.
piyuv··on Are Apple gift cards safe to redeem?
Addendum to 2: have a blog with thousands of readers which you can use to publicize your case, otherwise Apple won’t give a damn, like they did to Buttfield-Addison. He had the receipts, Apple didn’t care.
piyuv··on iOS 26.2 fixes 20 security vulnerabilities, 2 actively exploited
Your theory is real but its not the main purpose, it’s a happy accident for Apple. Otherwise there’d be a class action.
piyuv··on YouTube's CEO limits his kids' social media use – other tech bosses do the same
Switch is an overall better choice for kids anyway, lots of kid friendly high quality games and they can even get some exercise in (switch sports, warioware, fitness boxing, Mario tennis)
piyuv··on Pebble Index 01 – External memory for your brain
Why didn’t you make it just a button which activates the watch? It’d be an addon to pebble watch. It couldn’t be used standalone, but you could make it rechargeable and it would solve your issue (actions with only one hand)
piyuv··on Pebble Index 01 – External memory for your brain
> The battery lasts for up to years of average use. After the end of its life, send your ring back to us for recycling.

This must be a joke.

piyuv··on Bad Dye Job
Apple bootlicker for sure, but he knows his stuff
piyuv··on GrapheneOS is the only Android OS providing full security patches
Cory Doctorow answers this in his book “The Internet Con”. IBM fought with DoJ for years. Today, it’s a felony to mess with anything locked down (anti circumvention)
piyuv··on What's Hiding Inside Haribo's Power Bank and Headphones?
Duracell gummies (AA battery shaped) would be pretty cool
piyuv··on GrapheneOS Moving Out of France
> Prosecutors were able to gain access to the laptop, and police say forensic analysis showed Rawls downloading child pornography and saving it to the external hard drives.
piyuv··on The fall of Labubus and the mush of modern internet trends
Also good for your overall mental health. Consumerism is a disease. Only way to beat the hedonic treadmill is to step off it.
piyuv··on Why Wikipedia cannot claim the Earth is not flat
I hate that producing and promoting baseless arguments is near zero effort, but refuting them requires an essay.
piyuv··on Synology reverses policy banning third-party HDDs
Bose first, Synology second. Bad execs need to go.

An RSS reader with pre-configured feeds? Neat, anything to get people into RSS is a win
piyuv··on Yt-dlp: Upcoming new requirements for YouTube downloads
Nintendo Direct. Download issue persisted with all videos though
piyuv··on Yt-dlp: Upcoming new requirements for YouTube downloads
It’ll be fixed when some product manager can offer it as a promotion project
piyuv··on Yt-dlp: Upcoming new requirements for YouTube downloads
I’m not using brave browser so did not know it could download videos
piyuv··on Yt-dlp: Upcoming new requirements for YouTube downloads
I’m a paying YouTube premium subscriber. Last weekend, I wanted to download something so I can watch it on my way in the train. The app got stuck at “waiting for download..” on my iPad. Same on iPhone. Restart did not work. I gave up after an hour (30 mins hands on trying stuff, 30 mins waiting for it to fix itself). Downloaded the video using yt-dlp, transferred it to my USB c flash drive, and watched it from that.

Awaiting their “premium cannot be shared with people outside household” policy so I can finally cancel. Family members make good use of ad-free.

piyuv··on Apple Debuts iPhone 17
Being able to impress people with 1099$ sure is strange
piyuv··on No place in children's hands: <16s in UK to be banned from buying energy drinks
This doesn’t solve the underlying issue: heavy marketing towards minors, using all available channels. Sure, heavy sugary/caffeinated drinks are bad for minors, but regulating this at the sales level feels like playing cat/mouse game with the industry.
piyuv··on Steve Wozniak: Life to me was never about accomplishment, but about happiness
Jobs is as much a genius as Musk.
piyuv··on Flipper Zero dark web firmware bypasses rolling code security
Exactly, but this reality doesn’t stop politicians stop blame flipper zero itself. See this link for Canadian government’s ban: https://blog.flipper.net/response-to-canadian-government/
piyuv··on Flipper Zero dark web firmware bypasses rolling code security
Can’t wait for ignorant politicians to ban flipper zero completely instead of accepting the reality that car keyfobs are insecure
piyuv··on My Self-Hosting Setup
Excellent write up. Can I ask why did you choose headscale instead of WireGuard?
piyuv··on LibreOffice takes aim at Microsoft Office with free guides to help users switch
They have their own office suite already?
piyuv··on Cinematography of “Andor”
Agreed. Real PITA with OLED tv’s. Musicians listen to their tracks in car stereos, directors should do what you suggest
piyuv··on xAI to pay telegram $300M to integrate Grok into the chat app
That shows that their trust in users selecting google as primary if given the option when setting up a new device is not high. Otherwise they’d negotiate it down.
piyuv··on Ask HN: What projects do you donate to?
Can you share links to what put you off?
