pixelbyindex··on Unity plan pricing and packaging updates
Everyone on HN has been suggesting GoDot. I have also spent lots of time with Unity, but recently spent about 5-10 hours playing around with GoDot. Some thoughts:

- I strongly dislike the name and logo

- It feels very foreign at first, but easy to pick up

- It appears to me that it is production ready

- Migrating an existing unity project would be an absolute nightmare

- Publishing to consoles looks tricky, but I haven't been far down that path yet

I am going to be spending more time with it now, because I have been growing less and less happy with unity over the last 2+ years. The proverbial straw has now found it's seat upon the camel's back

pixelbyindex··on Ask HN: Tell us about your project that's not done yet but you want feedback on
This is a great project. I have a couple hundred bookmarks categorized and sorted for this very purpose, especially for css/html tooling.

Are you manually entering all this data? How are you preventing spam/duplicated content?

Also, some feedback: https://www.inouts.com/explore?query=3d+model

I was hoping to see if there were any 3d model assisted ai tools in the db, but the results aren't highly relevant for this search

Currently working on an (unofficial) VSCode extension for tldr.sh

Shouldn't take much longer but I haven't released it yet. I have been playing around with how I want the commands to be displayed. Simple but useful for me, and I plan to keep it open source.

pixelbyindex··on Supabase – Realtime: Multiplayer Edition
Hi Supabase & Team

What are the chances of an official C# library being in the works? I think this would greatly fill the needs for unity devs. I use firebase on almost all game backends because of how quickly I can get set up with auth and a db.

I used supabase in my latest project and it served my needs but there were a few difficulties to overcome. The greatest shortcoming was the lack of real time support (C#), and I had to do everything via REST api.

I am planning on publishing the game as OSS and making some learning videos about it

pixelbyindex··on Unity merges with IronSource
Does anyone have experience shipping monetized games that do not rely on ads? Were any of these titles successful? What are your monetization models?

I, for one, hate ads. I will do anything to avoid using ads, but I also need to put food on the table at some point.

As someone who uses (has used?) GoDot, would you say it may become to games what blender is to 3d modeling? It's such a huge slowdown to move from something you know (unity) into something new
pixelbyindex··on Brain.js: GPU Accelerated Neural Networks in JavaScript
> It’s pretty much a certainty that a web standard for eager-mode machine learning will spring up when WebGPU comes online

I can agree on this point. The fusion of the browser and the GPU will likely open up some new pathways to ML concepts that were previously impeded.

At the same time, is there a possibility that websites begin implementing heavy GPU operations at scale, in the same way that SPA webapps are heavy on memory today?
