My hate for this whole situation (but especially the fact that it broke resolution of short names with search domains) is bone-deep.
Between AV and InfoSeek (which I used the Netscape plugin to get a browser search bar for) I was seeing better results than Google until sometime in the mid-00's.
Sure if you wanted to skim the surface of what was available on a given topic or just wanted the most popular links, Google was fine in the 90's and early 00's; But if you were deep diving or wanted something more obscure you needed other search engines.
"Steve first talked about application development for iPhone at the same keynote I was demonstrating the new ID Tech 5 rendering engine on Mac, so I was in the front row. When he started going on about 'Web Apps', I was (reasonably quietly) going 'Booo!!!'."
I had filled out all the onboarding paperwork, but as there had been almost no vetting I assumed this was all still preliminary and my "actual" hiring would hinge on another round of interviews (possibly with the US client company). Then I checked my bank balance one day and found it to be significantly higher than expected due to automated deposits that continued for the duration: The hiring process was over, I was now a full blown employee as far as the company was concerned.
The original position was in Chicago (a city I was not in) however after a month or so of waiting this seemed to fall through and I was asked to select from a short list of other cities I would be available to relocate to. I chose New York and eventually was given a weeks-away start date that I was expected to begin work there, however no hint of a corresponding salary bump.
Being unwilling to relocate to NY for a Chicago salary, I patiently explained to the management in India that I would need to know my new salary first. After they blew through a few soft deadlines while continuing to insist that I was expected to be at work in New York on the same start date, I finally got my direct supervisor on phone at the beginning of his workday and made it clear that I needed this number before his close of business or else.
When that deadline was also blown, I followed through on my promise and quit immediately (a move that seemed to surprise him). During these three or four months I had shown up at no office or been assigned any tasks.
Wow. Most would be thrilled that an uninterested candidate is moving on quickly rather than getting the job then immediately quitting or being terminated (both of which are things I have seen).
Trying to threaten a candidate into continuing an interview is just psychotic.
This whole "right to be forgotten" thing just seems like a good way for wealthy people to hide inconvenient facts from public view. If it was really about falsehoods and lies, why wouldn't they go to court with the existing laws?
These were distribution rights, some of which were going to expire in 2020 anyway.[1] So now we may finally get some official unspecialized Star Wars.

No, you can still do a lot with compartmentalization. Throwing in the towel just because "on a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero" is just looking at the glass as half empty.
Commercial stock image sites were invented for situations like this. Not having time (or whatever) to pay for your stock photography stops being a valid excuse when you rise above the level of "bake sale flyer".
Furthermore: Healthcare providers operating in sectors with low barriers to entry should be constantly subject to random audit/inspection regardless of their stats. Do we wait for a customer to report glass in their food before we inspect a restaurant?
The only down side I remember is that we only had one Mr. T fan page.
Of course you could always make your own cable, but this was in the 90's, when the tool for that was very expensive.

IIRC this tactic was used during the massive Target data breach in 2014.
