This Space Jam website is a working website, too -- but it's dead. Get it?

photoGrant··on What happened to Vivaldi Social?
Bad luck on timing? Feels like luck had little to do with it and migration testing wasn't fuzz'd enough?
photoGrant··on IMAX emulates PalmPilot software to power Oppenheimer’s 70 mm release
I don't say it lightly. It's trivial to remove the process entirely. The whole point of this style of projection is that it's as much theatre as the theatre itself. It's kept, including the aesthetic of the Pilot device itself, purely for nostalgic decoration and little more!
photoGrant··on IMAX emulates PalmPilot software to power Oppenheimer’s 70 mm release
I'm making it up, but want to say it had a serial port. Also, fun fact - they emulated instead of redesigned literally for aesthetic reasons.

Miserable. Godspeed, Kevin.

Fair, 12.3. My numbers are with the dev branch and 1024 with the xl model

Why am I with a 3090 @ 3 it/s?

Am I doing something heavily wrong? All through WSL2

substack just went medium? Would love to read, but not that much.

photoGrant··on MrBeast has become a viral sensation for his acts of altruism
Attention is money. How you skin it doesn't matter. Your attention is what's for sale, and bought.
photoGrant··on The power of keeping a coding journal (2014)
This is borderline genius! Thank you!

Stolen, doing!

photoGrant··on ChatGPT Forgot My Startup
I have had a significant decrease in usable GPT-4 via Chat. Anyone to say otherwise hasn't been using it daily as a plus user since first access. It's absolutely hindered in comparison. But also twice as fast.

photoGrant··on Bakhmut Is Gone: An Aerial Look at the War’s Destruction
I'll agree til the end of times regarding the asinine craziness of putting facts and journalism behind a financial barrier. That the most in need of correct information don't have the means to stay informed.

It's the worst of all angles. It's like junk food, the cheap and the easy wins to the detriment of all.

photoGrant··on Rising number of lithium battery incidents on airplanes worry crew
I've wondered how long it will take for them to put an emergency fireproof bag behind/under every seat. Surely it's worth the expense. Maybe they'll do something when it one day costs more in bad PR.
photoGrant··on Windows Alt-Tab on macOS
Anytime I see a discussion/argument about platform X, Y or Z -- it's rare I see anyone mentioning they use more than one daily. I'm on OSX and Windows & Server Linux daily, I am between all platforms multiple times a day. There's certain muscle memory and keyboard shortcuts I've learned that exist exclusive on each platform (particularly fun when copying/pasting from VM's in one OS to another, and then depending on which host OS I'm doing it from.

There's certain aspects of both I wish were on both, and this really helps! I love Windows Alt-Tab, and also Windows screen snapping (truly wish OSX would just steal it). Thanks!

photoGrant··on X-Rays made with scotch tape (2008)
I would see this phenomenon when taking medium format film off the paper backing in a darkroom to load for processing.

After a while I'd notice a faint blue light coming from the masking tape as I peeled it off the paper and film and I never figured out what that light was!

Now I know.

photoGrant··on Ask HN: Do you work nights/weekends?
I have never had a regular schedule in my life. The whole concept of a 'week' is foreign to me, and life has passed by in strange ways. Some months can feel like decades, some years can feel like minutes.

I don't love it, but it has its advantages.

photoGrant··on NYT/Bellingcat investigators find Pentagon leaker through Instagram photo
None of the way any of this has played out has told me it’s nothing more than major, major chess.
photoGrant··on I’m Never Fine
I wrote about this a little when it came to my time here in America, especially during COVID.

> the same false sense of warmth from the Starbucks cashier as they ask you how your day is going whilst simultaneously ignoring your plea for someone to know, actually, not so great. I haven’t seen much of America outside of what it’s tried to sell me. Which is the cheapest and the most ubiquotous. The monotonous and the bland. The quick and easy. There’s more to it, I know it. But people here seem scared of each other. They seem to want to hide their fragile selves. Or I could simply be projecting. But when I truly get to know someone, they’re as complex and beautiful and opinionated and correct and inspiring and hurt as anyone. They’re as struggled and scarred as you could expect, only in the most unexpected of ways.

photoGrant··on Asus Preps ROG Ally: A Portable Windows Game Console
They definitely aren't doing 'nothing' to work on battery life regarding power draw.

That said, it's just about enough for a long commute to work & back. Not great.

photoGrant··on Dropbox shockingly axed Vault access in the latest macOS update
I just put all my eggs in this basket a few months ago. Seriously? It's finally goodbye for anything more than the basics, Dropbox.
