I got a week long ban for calling someone out for being a Nazi. The person openly praising Hitler did not get banned at all. At the time I thought it was mere incompetence, but in hindsight, it seems more like intentional malice.
Improves brand reputation? I don't think I've seen a single case where someone is glad to talk to an LLM/chat bot instead of an actual person. Personally, I think less of any company that uses them. I've never seen one be actually useful, and they seem to only really regurgitate links to FAQ pages or give the most generic answers possible while I fight to get a customer service number so I can actually solve the problem at hand.
I'm of course not recommending or condoning this, but with instant release it's definitely possible to also get a higher dosage than you actually need and cut the pills up to take the lower dosage you need, and stash the rest to build up a surplus.
And it's an administration that has a history of trying to rewrite history and deny reality when it conflicts with their goals. And regularly claims fundamental parts of the constitution are "unconstitutional" somehow and are actively trying to get rid of them.
Agreed, the consequences of a car-dependent society are far reaching, and this is a very insidious one.
I'd also add that it may even be illegal in some places to let your kids outside by themselves at all. Even when it's not illegal, it just takes one busybody to call the police and you've got a potential charge waiting for you, all because you let your kid walk a couple blocks to school. And of course, this just exacerbates the problem further.
> I can't think how realistically the average joe is committing 3 felonies per year.
Someone who smokes weed daily in a place where it's illegal could easily commit multiple crimes a day just for drug possession and consumption, for example.
Is there any data that shows people in the US are switching to WhatsApp? The only people I've ever seen use it are people with family in other countries. The statistics I've seen indicate that iPhone usage amongst American teenagers is high and still increasing(1), which almost certainly would lead to higher iMessage usage.
This is only anecdotal, but probiotic supplements absolutely had a large impact on my social anxiety. I can't remember for the life of me where I heard it, but I specifically looked for ones that with strains were "dirt-based" - PB-8 is the one I currently take. Looking back, I realized just how directly getting anxious was tied to having an upset stomach for me. The first week or so was a bit rough, but after that it's been smooth sailing. The supplements are so cheap that I think it's worth trying for a bit. Kombucha/other fermented foods may also have a positive impact.
Caveat: I have never been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, so things may different in that case.
This is a late response and I know you don't care about evidence and have an axe to grind, but to anyone who may read this later: disability legal regulations and standards are absolutely a standard. Denying this won't make it any less true, the same as denying climate change won't make it any less true.
> Maybe the things I can't pay attention to aren't worth paying attention to and I should be working on something else.
When these things are vital things like feeding yourself, going to work, of driving, this absolutely does not apply. Without treatment, I often cannot even get myself to do things I want to and are fun. ADHD isn't "I can't pay attention to a boring movie", it's executive dysfunction.
It is legally a disability, and you can get accommodations in college for it. I'm glad it hasn't negatively affected your life, but that doesn't mean it doesn't affect others. Believing it isn't an issue won't magically make that true, and only prevents people from getting the help they need.
This is blatant misinformation. There is ample evidence that ADHD exists and is detrimental to all aspects of life. It is not some quirky different way of thinking, it's a disability. My life was made significantly harder without
medication, and it's the only thing that allows me to function on a day to day basis. Your kids may end up resenting you down the road for preventing them from accessing one of the only proven treatments that can help with this nuerodevelopmental disorder.
I've seen robot waiters at one restaurant in SF as well, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were more. They'll most likely be here on a large scale faster than we think.
I'm guessing that person signed up with a Google account that was connected to other Google accounts, and when they tried to make a new account it was flagged as "ban evasion".
Just adding to the noise, but the thing that finally got my 15+ year old account banned was reporting some blatantly racist comments. Apparently if a subreddit mod agrees with the reported comment, they can just report you for "abusing the report system". The original comment never got removed, of course.
I agree price is the issue. I'm a YouTube premium subscriber myself since I use it so much, but every friend I've talked to about it bar one has been put off by the price. Lowering the price and possibly splitting YouTube Music into its own subscription would make a big difference - I have no interest in YouTube music as I already have another music streaming subscription I'm not interested in giving up.
Progressive socially =/= labor friendly/left wing political views. The executives running things are always going to be in favor of increasing their profits over anything else. Strong labor protections/rights usually get in the way of that. This also applies to a large portion of wealthy people in general, and there are many of them in Hollywood.
> They have no obligation to entertain you even if your kids are playing together.
This is a really cynical and negative way to view basic human interaction, the cornerstone of our species and civilization. I've been seeing it a lot lately online, and it doesn't surprise me that people are lonely and aren't making friends if they adopt an attitude like that.
I would go even further and say the world would be a significantly better place without any Meta products (and most other social media). At this point, they are a considerable net negative on society as a whole.
