Because Google owns both the browser and the search engine, and could use position in one market to gain a large advantage in another. Opera is neither a market leader nor it owns DDG. Moreover there is no such thing as anti-trust behavior, anti-trust is a legislation/action( the anti in its name ) that is aimed to stop such behaviour.
It would not be beneficial to standardize such s young technology. It is likely that the best car battery design hasn't been invented yet. Standards bodies are there to codify best practices and not to decide things by themselves.
I bought it and it looks terrible on my Kindle, some sentences repeat themselves and there is a "Paul Graham" string shown 3 times per page. The about Paul Graham text was actually behind his picture, so overall quality of this is extremely low.
Most of the benefits university provides are not gained in class, those being accreditation, networking, and being in a group of really smart people. Moreover a lot of people are spending somebody else's money through scholarships and etc.
It is not that the result of operation is undefined, the operation of INT_MAX+1 itself is undefined(actually the entire program becomes undefined when you do it), so the compiler can do whatever it pleases. According to the C standard, INT_MAX+1 might as well lead to formatting of your hard drive. So, it is safe to assume that x!=INT_MAX and that x+1>x for all x, because if x=INT_MAX your program is undefined, so compiler can do whatever it wants, including setting it to true or outputting an error or formatting the hard drive.
The article is down, but on-topic, I know bunch of large airlines(EasyJet for example) that let you present boarding pass on your smartphone so you do not have to print it.
Not really true, for example my 3 year old Nokia N82 has a much better camera than the iPhone. It even comes with a real flash instead of the lousy LED one.
You can have pretty interesting Monopoly games. Mine usually end up with interplayer corporations, loans for building and investing, bailouts, mergers and similar.
Thanks, I put so much text to try to explain the idea and credentials as to not seem like one of "You give me money and I give you this awesome secret to saving and becoming a millionaire in a year" but I agree it is a bit too much.
I was primarily inspired by this Derek Sivers blog post http://sivers.org/semi-expert and my own frustration when often booking flights and finding from a friend that I could have saved tons of money by using a low cost airline that is not on search engines.
I just saw you use e-junkie for fulfillment. Are you satisfied with them? I am considering using them for a digital goods sale, except mine would be an one-off sale of unique items.
I am a bit unnerved with airbnb, as they took something people have been doing for free(couchsurfing), and are now incentivizing people to charge money for it.
Your analysis excludes the fact that the sampling of people you meet is not uniform but biased according to what you do.
The chances of meeting women who do outdoor sports is extremely high if you do them yourselves, you are more likely to meet a girl like you want in a bar than in a church, etc. My point is that bumping into a girl like that randomly is actually very high, as long as you don't spend your life only at home or at work.
