As in traditional societies that burn scientists for suggesting earth revolves around the sun? This is why it’s important to learn history instead of just making things up in your head.
I have a feeling it's going to be nearly impossible to replace it without breaking a lot of existing code, since the syntax will have to be a lot more explicit.
The problem was standardized hiring is it become too easy to game the process. You end up with a pool of engineers good at studying and it doesn’t always translate to good engineering.
If you draw a venn diagram of people that collect washers, and people that would set up a booth to talk to others, the intersection is going to be extremely small.
In the video jobs mentioned he wanted to sell 50,000 units in 1992. The actual numbers were 20,000 units in 1992 and 50,000 in 1993. This just reminded me of Tesla ramp up. Musk was right about volume but too optimistic on timing.
What are the best alternatives besides cloud keychains. Coming from sharing same password for multiple accounts, cloud keychain has been step up for me security wise. I'm honestly curious what are the better alternatives.
If you have ever worked with children you will realize vast majority of them lack the willpower to learn new things and seek out answers. A good teacher can provide the social accountability and guide them, but it's not something you can put on auto pilot with AI.
Still waiting on KaZaA open source. Kids these days don't know what it's like trying to download a music video and end up watching someone getting beheaded.
No it does not "make up things" using generative AI. Current GS implementations assume camera poses are static. This paper assigns a linear motion trajectory to camera during training.
After coloring grading there's going to be difference in sharpness but most won't notice. The biggest visual difference is going to be depth of field. Without specialty lens iphone has to rely on a depth matte, which is not very clean with current gen hardware. With Panavision lens you can manually pull focus. It will look better but requires a dedicated person on set.
People are obsessing over the lens but really hard part about video production is the workflow. Timecode, track syncing, color grading, AI, storage. Apple is solving it piece by piece I can see iOS based workflow becoming norm in not distant future.
In my 20's I thought startup was a quick way to make a million bucks. I had a list of ideas. Copied and spun others' ideas. Some of them made money but none was wildly successful. Now I'm older and money is less of an issue, I realized starting a business is more about finding the people you want to help, working with people you like, and being the right person to solve the problem at the right time.
I often dread when I see an employer using in-house systems for common tasks like project tracking and code review. I'm curious how does JS's internal tools stack up against systems out there, like Github or Jira.
I believe this is just a product of US corporate tax laws and high interest rate but I would like to hear other takes on it. Corporations don't want to bring overseas profit home and be double taxed, so they borrow domestically using oversea cash as collateral. High interest rate and strong USD make it less attractive to hire in US.
After seeing so many failed file system projects at vmware, I was pretty skeptical when I first heard about APFS. The fact it succeeded with so little noise just blew me away. It proves apples has the best system engineers in the world today.
