My question to your team would be, why do you think people want this. Are you seeing people claiming that they wish email was better? It is hard to change people's behaviors and this is the reason why these companies failed. I agree that there are better ways to communicate now, slack, hichpchat, facebook, but why try to reinvent the wheel.
People are not going to drop something reliable as email for a new fad. what would make your product different that would make me want to use it?
Cheers
Then if you want to load the database we have a shell script wrapper that can do a few things.
Load an sql from an s3 private bucket to refresh your local database, so even if you crash anything you can always fix things with a quick shell command. We also tie things into newrelic and sentry to help us debug code locally before it even gets to sandbox or prod.
:)
I don't take for granted what I have, I know it can easily go away at anytime, and that's why I fight to stay relevant and get better at my craft. I might not be able to do it at work but I have my own free time to learn all the new technologies, docker, ansible, aws , etc.
You need to find something else outside of work to make you happy, I think you have everything to make any man happy.
a good wife a kid on the way a good paying job health you live in a great country and you have freedom.
if you are not happy wait until you lose any of the above.
Happy 2015
ONLY use that money as the last resource.
Manage a Cloud infrastructure from creating, destroying and provisioning instances using tools like Ansible and in the past Puppet and chef.
The environments where I have worked are so large that doing things manually does not scale and you have to automate all these processes. I have to work with developers to help them setup their dev enviroments using Vagrant and have them mirror production.
Also, I have to make sure the code the developers work with is managed and deployed to our instance using automated tools like Jenkins or Travis CI. Help the developers troubleshooting networking, DNS , SSL issues once we detect bugs on production on sandbox and help them get access to logs, automate alerts using New Relic, Elastic Search .
I work with environments where I have to know and understand the whole stack. Hadoop, kafka, Django, Postgres , MySql, Mongodb and be able to pin point where our bottle neck might be when we have production problems. A lot of developers just work on one part of the system so they come to me when they need help understanding the whole stack.
My work involves helping making the developers and the business work with operations and work as a team. hence the term DevOps .
Automate all the things! that's my job
I suffer from depression and I am not a founder we all have issues so why do we have to label this depression and founder's depression. These people are no different that anyone else just different problems.
seems like we should actually be doing something to help people with depression and not just a certain group just because they are founders. After all depression is the same regardless if you are a founder, a manager, a business owner, a student.
Once he left the company I left afterwards. I was loyal to him not to the company. He was my manager and I respected him and always wanted to do my best to make his life easier. I worked with him not against him. I didn't care about the business decisions as long as I got paid. We did great work but as always bad decisions can make or break a company. When I join a company I don't know what is going to happen 1 or two years but I can try to ask questions to my potential manager to see if we are going to be good fit or not.
Keep up with this great idea, add more entries in your blog and good luck to you .
Teen magazines are very influential, don't be afraid to reach them. Research all the companies that have magazines or media that reach women and teens and contact them. If only one or two reply and talk about your app you can have lots of attention and hopefully downloads.
