pdelgallego··on The Real Reason Italy Sucks at the Startup Game
Sorry, my bad. As Alberto pointed in his comment, I was asking about how to incorporate a company in the USA when you are not a USA citizen (neither a legal resident)?

pdelgallego··on 37signals has hired a full time filmmaker to document its every move
This will reinforce the 37signal brand, just like Getting real, or Rework did before.

They are going to release 25 videos, and they can count me in to see them. I had recently seen the peepcode double episode with Ryan Singer (UX at 37signals) and was worth the time.

pdelgallego··on Vi and Vim vs. Emacs Shootout and Deal
Besides the inline manual that emacs has in itself. I recommend you to start using the Emacs Starter Kit [1].

Try to read the source and understand what it's doing. You will learn how to configure emacs, and the basics of elisp.

You have some broken links on the job page, OTOH the crying raccoon is kind of cute.

pdelgallego··on Work has started on Ruby 2.0
If you are interested about what directions ruby will take in the future you can read this thread in the ruby core mailing list.

pdelgallego··on Work has started on Ruby 2.0
For good or bad, the ruby community tends to embrace changes faster than the Python community. For example Rails is going to drop 1.8.7 support in the next release 3.2

pdelgallego··on Best first programming language for a teenager to learn
The most important part of the learning process is to have access to a good mentor. So I recommend you the HtDP book[1], and just use whatever language you are good at.

Happy hacking.

pdelgallego··on The Metamovement
> The Arab Spring is part of the Metamovement; the London Riots were part of the Metamovement;

The Arab Spring, or the Madrid rallies are not the same thing that the London riots. The last one was mainly looting and arson attacks, while the other were pacific demonstrations demanding more democracy.

pdelgallego··on Stripe: instant payment processing for developers
Another one here from Denmark, but Spain will make the deal as well.
pdelgallego··on Modern Ruby Development

Congrats to the guys of BackType.

I have been very tempted to apply to their internship during the winter.

pdelgallego··on Taskwarrior is a time and task management tool (terminal)
> It's the only todo tool that I actually use. It removes the friction of having to have a web-based one open, find the window/tab, click on the appropriate textbox, etc.

That is the same reason why I use org-mode in emacs. I dont even need to change the window. I just type in the minibuffer the todo item and voila, added to my plain text org file.

pdelgallego··on Working with git? These aliases will save you hours

pdelgallego··on Ubuntu 11.10 To Switch From GDM To LightDM
I think this is the path that Ubuntu should follow, replace current pieces of software with lighter and smaller solutions.

You can always replace them with more advances packages through apt-get.

pdelgallego··on Why the US can beat China: The Facts about SpaceX Costs
The competitive advantage in India in the long term is that their population will be significantly younger than China.

> India has more than 50% of its population below the age of 25 and more than 65% hovers below the age of 35. It is expected that, in 2020, the average age of an Indian will be 29 years, compared to 37 for China and 48 for Japan; and, by 2030, India's dependency ratio should be just over 0.4. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_India

In the other hand India is confronting other problems.

pdelgallego··on Why the US can beat China: The Facts about SpaceX Costs
Are you guys developing any kind of software?

I am a web developer, so I don't know much about C, but I am sure a lot of people here can help if you put a repository.
