pcj-github··on Golden: Mapping human knowledge
Sorry, but I see nothing compelling here. If at this point your "customer stories" section includes quote from a VC, you don't have a real product. Good luck, but I'm afraid you are going to have a hard time finding real paying customers. And attracting actual human editors? Numerous people on this thread are already offended by your proposal. Next.
pcj-github··on Comparing JVM alternatives to JavaScript
Add https://github.com/google/j2cl to the mix if you're looking for java development for front-end work.
pcj-github··on The state of gRPC in the browser
grpc-web indeed does use XMLHttpRequest internally to make the request to the server. Main advantage is type-safety of the overall communication protocol and some efficiency gains. Cannot be stated strongly enough how important compile-time type-safety guarantees between client and server is (particularly in a "microservices" environment where everything is disconnected at runtime); eliminates an entire class of bugs, frees developers to focus on more business-relevant tasks rather than worrying about serialization.
pcj-github··on The state of gRPC in the browser
Both protocols implement their own framing scheme(s). Once you start looking at the details of such a suggestion, it becomes kind-of a hack to use websockets for streaming gRPC and likely to have scaling issues. One can do it as a proof-of-concept and may work fine in low-traffic scenarios. I think it will not be a reality until browsers expose some sort of fetch-like http2 primitive to developers.
pcj-github··on Binctr: Static, unprivileged, self-contained containers as executable binaries
I'd add that a ratio of ~2000 stars to ~50 forks suggests that the blog author is very popular person and that almost no-one is using binctr for serious work. Nonetheless, I starred it as a code reference for interacting with the docker codebase.
pcj-github··on Monorepos: Please don’t
Yup... This. You saved me 20m from writing this same/similar reply.

Tragically this article will be subsequently be cited by countless software managers that retain a fear of monorepos for some of the reasons cited here; junior (& sr devs) will go along with it out of not wanting to stick their necks out, and the cycle of pain will continue.
