Becausr none of these countriest are telling you corrent mortality number. There are openly fuzzing the numbers and actively suppresing domestic jounalists with laws that protects the government from criticisms. This is atleast true for Bangladesh (where I am from), India, philipines and vietnam. To the best of my knowledge. There is absolutely no reason to believe that something magical is happening in this part of world. People are dying, infection rate extemely high. They are being highly under-reported.
pavs··on Nothingness (2017)
I am not entirely sure what are you arguing against.

- We don't know or its not possible to know what came before something.

- After Big bang, nothing (as you define it), doesn't exist to the best of our understanding.

We both seems to agree on this two key point. So what are you exactly arguing against?

"We don't know yet." is really the answer to whatever you are mad about. Krauss or pick-your-favorite-scientists doesn't really shy away from this fact.

Are you mad because of the wording "UNIVERSE FROM NOTHING", then you just judging the book by its cover.

pavs··on Nothingness (2017)
Which is answered in the video - which is we don't know.

What we know is that there is no "nothing" as we understand or define it.

At the end of the video he says "We can't prove that we came from nothing, But it's plausible." from our limited understanding of whats going on in empty space. I don't know why you think "Krauss is often mocked for" this - because this is not unique to Krauss personal interpretation but there is scientific consensus within the community.

We can't tell where quantum fields came from the same way we can't tell for sure what happened before the big bang - other than the fact that we know it happened.

No one in Bangladesh believes Bangladesh's low death number. I live here. Freedom of the press is non-existent (al-most all press/media is owned by government party). There are actual laws that say that you can't say anything against the government online (many have been prosecuted for this).

There is literally only 1 party - all other parties are destroyed, their members arrested or banned, jailed on real or fake cases.

Bangladesh's health care has been horrible even before the pandemic. Air pollution is extremely high. We don't have the infrastructure to handle so many patients - private hospitals are having a hard time handling patients. Public hospitals are even worse. Central oxygen is almost non-existent, lack of proper PPE, masks or proper testing. They only recently started ramping up tests - but the numbers are still very low.

Even with all the hiding and misinformation by the government, the official number is still climbing at an alarming rate.

You can bolous dose. Depending on the which country. It might be prescription only. I take 20,000 IU once a week, 1000 iu everyday. I have bought prescribed 60,000 IU in the past.

That's not really straw-manning when exercise-induced injury is the main point you are trying to make.

6 days a week of HIIT training, without enough time for your body to recover is a recipe for injury. Of course, this can vary from person to person and the intensity of the workout and the level of your experience and form - but these are things you didn't mention.

doesn't chemotherapy does something similar to this:

"The ability of chemotherapy to kill cancer cells depends on its ability to halt cell division. Usually, cancer drugs work by damaging the RNA or DNA that tells the cell how to copy itself in division. If the cancer cells are unable to divide, they die."

So wouldn't a low dose chemotherapy work on this drug?

He can't do that legally to other countries. And will be stupid to do it with his competitors in the USA. Since there competition is fierce and he is not on good terms with them.

I think you are confusing Elon's pledge to "opensource" tesla patents, in 2014 - which to the best of my knowledge, not a single company has taken an interest in because of strings attached to it.

pavs··on Ring’s Ukraine arm appears to be working on facial recognition technology
I don't see whats the problem here.

A company has an international market. In one country, where they probably don't have a law against facial recognition, does research on facial recognition in their product.

In their home market, they are asked if they do Facial Recognition in their product, which probably meant in the USA, and they rightfully said they don't. The most likely scenario is that the spokesperson is not even aware that on one market they do facial recognition _research_.

Seems like a manufactured outrage over nothing.

We can't, only government can and they won't Meet/farming industry is quite big and employs a lot of people not to mention the industry lobbying is strong. Going against them is political suicide.

The problem of global warming is not a technical problem or a problem that is not solvable or daunting. It's a Human problem, a combination of greed, complacency, and the daunting task of making massive lifestyle and business change all across the world to come into agreement and work together and make massive compromise.

The chances of this happening is zero.

There will be changes, and people should be lauded for their effort, but its too little too late.

Reminds me of one of my favorite scene from "The Newsroom" TV Series. Maybe a bit too drammatic, but the gist is true. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyULP9rk-iM

Most people have the view that the USA is a democracy. The USA is not and has not been a democracy for a long time. Majority votes do not elect a president, electoral votes do. So you can, in theory, have millions of fewer votes and still get elected. As is the case with the current president and some past presidents.

The idea of 3 branches of government, supposed to put checks and balances on the democratic system is also a ruse. The President has the executive power to do almost whatever he wants. Never in the history of USA, any president has ever been criminally prosecuted, despite a long laundry list of atrocities conducted, nationally and internationally - since its existence. Congress will often blindly side with their party's elected President to pass or block any legislation, Even if overwhelmingly majority of the people of the country wants legislation it will either not get passed - or get heavily diluted by lobbying. The revolving door between private industry and government is a huge deal and perfectly legal which results in absurd things like Oil industry executives being in charge of the Environment Protection Agency (EPA).

The Judiciary Branch is also heavily politicized and partisan. Which is truer now than at any time in its history and will often side alone party line and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

This is, of course, an overly simplified version of reality. But don't call USA Democracy, its anything but.

IMO Corporatocracy is the closes type of US political system. This has been the case for a very very long time.

Also, quality Veggie burgers have been a thing for almost a decade now. With major fast-food chain and grocery stores are offering them.

There are so many way to handle global warming issue, and yes individual contribution does matter, but the only way to move the needle in any meaningful way has to come from the top of the government and real actual meaningful policy and its implementation in a reasonable time.

That is going to be very tough to do in the majority of the world government.

pavs··on NOAA Data Confirms July Was Hottest Month Ever Recorded
This will never pass. This is not simply me being pessimistic. US current government doesn't believe in climate change, and doing everything in its power to roll back whatever progress was made in the last decade or so. The current senate majority is a puppet of the government and will not pass anything Trump doesnt want. And even in the extreme unlikely scenario of it getting passed. It will get vetoed.

Since getting downvoted, maybe people don't know Trump's relationship with climate change:

You literally did not answer my question. Your government is not now or has ever been accountable to any atrocities it has caused since the beginning of its existence. Regardless of how much angst you have shown and the protests you have done. Nothing cam out of it, ever.

China has never in the history of its existence, bombed the shit out of other countries, killing millions in the guise of freedom. Overthrew legitimately elected government, and supplied weapons to create conflict. Never.

In which universe did any Chinese company pull a Tiananmen Square massacre?

Are you confusing the Chinese company with the Chinese government?

Are you comfortables with USA government staging illegal Iraqi war (one of many), that resulted in close to a million death (at least)? With direct complicit help from many USA based companies?

What exactly are we comparing here, or are we cherry-picking ignorance?

I have often seen there are heavy implicit bias from USA based journalists/blogs when reporting non-us based companies. More so when reporting Chinese companies. China is the second-largest economy in the world. But there is always a "but" or an implicit Asterix when reporting anything positive about Chinese companies.

Second Largest smartphone manufacturer. Largest supplier of network equipment. 6-7 largest tech company in the world. 170k employees in 170 countries. 100+ billion yearly revenue. They are not even allowed to do business in USA. Arguably the most profitable market in the world.
