patronagezero··on Page load fail makes it difficult to cook cornbread in the woodstove
Only crazy people put sugar in cornbread:

10" round (iron) skillet

2 eggs

1 cup milk

1/4 cup cooking oil

3/4 teaspoon salt

4 teaspoons baking powder (not baking soda)

1 cup yellow cornmeal

1 cup unbleached white flour (or 1/2 whole wheat + 1/2 white)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees: In a large bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, oil and salt until well blended. Sift in the baking powder and whisk until foamy. Quickly mix in the cornmeal and flour. Beat until the batter is smooth. Pour into an oiled 10" round cast iron skillet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. (Okay to freeze the leftovers.)

Once cooled, crumble into bowl, add milk for a breakfast-type cereal.

patronagezero··on Confidentiality at FastMail
Don't play this game unless you're not really interested in full confidentiality. Some people are willing to increase security to the point of protecting their financial interests without concerning themselves with security against nation-states, I think the future, if not the history as we already know it, will prove this to be foolish.
patronagezero··on Censorship 2.0: Shadowy forces controlling online conversations
My new online-conversation digestion involves reading the posts from the bottom up these days. I've found this yields interesting results, with what I consider the most interesting posts being towards the bottom, and the 'always-agreeable' generic karma-magnet posts at the top.

You keep playing their games. I'm going to get busy looking for solutions with an actual possibility of success.
patronagezero··on US Senate Report on CIA Detention and Interrogation Program
Maybe people don't vote because they are disenchanted with the system they don't believe works as it was supposed to? Where the heck do you get off saying if people aren't capable of the desire to vote, a revolution isn't possible?

Consider for a moment: you can vote for spam or canned tuna.

Hilarious.

patronagezero··on US Senate Report on CIA Detention and Interrogation Program
Politics will not get us out of this mess, but it sure is an easy ride if that's the limitations of your efforts.
patronagezero··on US Senate Report on CIA Detention and Interrogation Program
A start would be to stop looking to someone else to show you the way. What have you tried?

Working in groups is what makes it so damn easy to discredit, re-brand and dilute movements. Protesting? C'mon, we're way past the useful application of protesting.

patronagezero··on US Senate Report on CIA Detention and Interrogation Program
We as a country allow whistle-blowers to be called traitors, imprisoned, character assassinated, assassinated and exiled from our country. The only people that don't or didn't know are those that wished to continue living the 'American dream' in denial.
patronagezero··on US Senate Report on CIA Detention and Interrogation Program
At best, the citizens are ignorantly complicit by lack of attention. What did the people do about MK ULTRA? Who was punished? Oh, that's right, the CIA got off with paying their victims off and no-one was held "accountable". The republic has been dead. What's left is just the populace of the most financially successful country, and those people don't want to be told how complacently evil they and their country have become. I've argued with enough people that will reject the truth up until it's completely ill-refutable, the reason being, they like their lifestyle and make-believe country.

> and someone needs to be held accountable.

The citizens of the United States need to be held accountable. Sorry, someone has to start looking at the root of the problem.

If you don't want to go running because you'll be sore in the morning, then just resolve to be fat. If that's what humanity wants, then by all means. However, I would like to continue redefining humanity and evolving. The people cannot do that in a system that controls the flow of easily-digest-able information, laws and authority.
patronagezero··on Appeals Court to Hear Oral Arguments in Idaho Woman's Case Against NSA Spying
Most of the HN crowds are far from accepting this idea of a revolution, this is specifically the problem I'm not willing to address here. You would all rather bury your heads in the idea that your disposable income somehow super-cedes your taxes, or that your occasional attention or interest in laws and justice super-cedes the interests of judges and law-enforcement to override your rights. I have to look no further than the SOPA, CIPA, whatever renaming to know otherwise.

The system has to burn and be rebuilt. The actions of a few do not represent the many. Humanity, for worse or better must come to represent itself again. History has plenty of information about how and why revolutions are formed, and in my observations it either takes an act of attentive artists pulling the people together, or poverty.

Myself, I opt for poverty. I'm no artist, so I seek to drain everything I can from the economy and welfare systems. I don't care which of you understand this logic, as I'm aware the majority are merely interested in social-gratification.

Fire away, as I'm aware none of you are actually interested in my points here and merely seek to have better positions of attack.

Sorry for responding to your question then. I'm not interested in your invitation to an argument about specifics. History has plenty of instances of the people vs systems of governance, if you can't summon those by your own fruition, then my comment isn't intended for you.
patronagezero··on Appeals Court to Hear Oral Arguments in Idaho Woman's Case Against NSA Spying
In an abstract way I did. I'm not interested in being dragged into easy points of contention with someone that would rather attempt to pay their way out of the problems of our times.
patronagezero··on Appeals Court to Hear Oral Arguments in Idaho Woman's Case Against NSA Spying
The only drastic shifts in power happen in times of need. What the people do once they regain that power will only speak to the direction of humanity, but at least it speaks to our evolution or lack thereof as a whole, instead of some select group that seeks to subvert and oppress.
patronagezero··on Appeals Court to Hear Oral Arguments in Idaho Woman's Case Against NSA Spying
I'll assume you aren't familiar with the subject of history, otherwise I would have to assume you're just trying to discredit me without having an actual conversation.

Excellent use of your down-voting privileges I might add.

patronagezero··on Appeals Court to Hear Oral Arguments in Idaho Woman's Case Against NSA Spying
The cops, courts, judges, congress and executive office all work against the American people. Your disposable income will do nothing in the long-run to stop those that stand to benefit, profit and empower themselves through subverting the average citizen's rights. Enact real change through historically proven measures.
patronagezero··on Sony Got Hacked Hard: What We Know and Don't Know So Far
Yes, because privileged white guys, right? Would you feel the same if it was a minority instead? Would it even be noteworthy? Could we even have this conversation if it was a cabal of religiously exclusive peoples? That's right, only white guys are privileged, not minorities who have actual legislative privileges. One is evil, the other is supposed to be socially rewarding, but guess what, many see it for what it is; inconsistent dogma for the over-socialized.

Doesn't seem to be a workable way to override the geo-ip location settings. I attempted to set the zipcode which just spins as in-progress indefinitely for me. Finally managed to save the zipcode by hitting save but the listing still shows the previous ip location.

I have to say as a tangent, I hate what the JS-dependent UI people are doing to the internet. The experience sucks with only ghostery enabled and shows as blocking analytics and relic. What happened to the top-shelf web designers using javascript and a UX enrichment as opposed to a dependency?

patronagezero··on Bill to Restrict N.S.A. Data Collection Blocked in Vote by Senate Republicans
What a uselessly unintellectual commentary. Care to address the renewal of the 'Patriot Act' as being the "right" vote?
patronagezero··on Bill to Restrict N.S.A. Data Collection Blocked in Vote by Senate Republicans
I was careful not to specify US taxes. The US may have started the awareness of this issue, but they're far from the only government involved. I've underestimated very little so far, retrospective to my predictions. However I've argued with plenty that have overestimated as history now proves.

Again, my point was looking at the overall useful contributions the average hacker can make while focusing on the struggle of maintaining 98F, verses the hiring, monetizing and actionable efforts coming from the adversary. Making progress in this day and age largely depends on accurately understanding the actual adversary. If you think that's limited to the 'US Government'... well then...

patronagezero··on Bill to Restrict N.S.A. Data Collection Blocked in Vote by Senate Republicans
I think it's a bit odd so many hackers view technology as even a possibility to their saving grace in this struggle. Were hackers the ones largely supporting actionable development efforts of Tor? Do they continue to? How many people do you know that use Tor for casual internet browsing vs spending more time on Facebook?

Take a look at your paycheck, expenses, taxes, and then contributions to technological solutions by-the-people, for-the-people. How many of you work at $job doing data-analysis for marketing schemes verses something useful to society. After all of that, then do some rough statistics on programmers that contribute to meaningful projects regarding cryptography (properly implemented, not talking about crap like 'secret') and freenet-type ideas. How many of us are going to quit our jobs to focus on this problem, how many of us could if we wanted to. Stop kidding yourselves, we're all literally paying for the work of evil-doers to subvert long extinguished ideas of privacy. Either adapt to survive or resist in a meaningful way, stop diluting yourselves with ideas of grandeur.

Tech people are nothing more than glorified marketers by-and-large. We handed the reigns of technology to those with capital, and the results are sickening. RMS was and will always be correct. The rest of you live in a vacuum fortified by paychecks and social support.
