Old stuff stills need to be maintained and sometimes old stuff starts requiring the new stuff to work as before. Not to mention maintaining old CI/CD pipelines and Google custom builders.
Typical HN take that is nothing but a lie. Worst experience I ever had in a desktop app were from Java UI applications (jdownloader), python (caliber, pgadmin) or the win 11 super laggy ui (native). Meanwhile now we have a lot of web application with much better performance that their "native" counterpart (For ex: Email clients, Text/Code editors).
Personally I just miss Dates. Even if I dont really like not having comments, it is probably for the best, force software to have proper documentation.
It's funny how this community trash on JS at every chance they have but for some reason bash is off the hook. I am tired on seeing CI pipelines failing and Live environment crashing because typos in .sh scripts. I propose to switch to powershell every time I can but that still sounds as heresy for the devops guys.
