p1anecrazy··on Top downloaded skill in ClawHub contains malware
One thing is clear from this thread: you are a decent human. Thank you!
p1anecrazy··on Claude Opus 4.6
Why are you posting the same message in every thread? Is this OpenAI astroturfing?

> In work chats full of AI generated slop, it stands out.

Do you mean like Teams AI autocomplete or people purposefully copying AI-generated messages into chats?

p1anecrazy··on Building a Telegram Bot with Cloudflare Workers, Durable Objects and Grammy
Interesting, reminds me of building bots with Lambdas and GCP Cloud functions when they were a thing.

I find sharing current location a bit of an overkill to get a user‘s timezone. What‘s your take on that?

p1anecrazy··on Message Queues: A Simple Guide with Analogies (2024)
In principle, I agree, but “a message queue is… a medium through which data flows from a source system to a destination system” feels like a truism.
p1anecrazy··on Why the trans flag emoji is the 5-codepoint sequence it is
Your take is very subjective. I found the story captivating and technically clear.
p1anecrazy··on Synesthesia helps me find four-leaf clovers (2023)
Scrolling quickly and having typos jump at me (when I was editing text in the past) and required code fragments (now) is exactly how I experience it.

How strong is your visual imagination?

p1anecrazy··on Google Gemini is about to control your messages and calls, even if you say no
Clickbait.

> Gemini now has a second set of toggles buried in its settings menu. You can go to Profile → Apps inside the Gemini app and manually disable access to Phone, Messages, WhatsApp, or Utilities. But these are turned on by default, even if you’ve disabled tracking in the past.

p1anecrazy··on Show HN: Progressor – coach that breaks down big goals into actionable steps
…and it’s also not clear what it gets you, OP.

Commitment takes effort from the customer. If you are a psychologist that studied for 20 years, I know we may not work well, but you will not bail in 1 month. If you are an entrepreneur with less experience or a coach who recently changed his vocation to become one, at least I believe you had conscious focused short-term effort. With AI/LLM you could have prototyped something in one day and I will never know how serious your intent is if there is no immediate financial or psychological return.

p1anecrazy··on WhatsApp introduces ads in its app
Privacy is a completely valid criticism, but it feels that posters at HN often forget that Telegram was made by geeks in the first place. It was first to give an easy way to send a hi-quality photo instead of a blurry JPEG, the first to let you send 4-5 GB files to yourf friend without any extra effort, which was unbelievable for me as someone who grew up with games played off audio records. And it used to be pretty Wild West - not in regards to porn as critics would say - why would a grown up person search for porn in a social media app - but rather in temporarily standing up for values of free software and media (also something I didn’t experience since early 90s).

I think one point not raised here is that Telegram is an attempt to create a global Asian style messenger with quick, sleek and maybe too animated (to my taste) design and vibrant ecosystem.

Whatsapp cannot be fast - otherwise Grandmas will not be using it, so Meta always has to compromise, while Telegram can just adapt WeChat/Line features for years with WA limping behind.

Signal is cool for people that consider privacy paramount. If I get it right, they are also on a mission of creating safe communication for the most vulnerable. They are just different; I could never make myself start using TikTok, and can completely relate to someone saying Signal has just the right amount of features one needs.

p1anecrazy··on An Introduction to the Hieroglyphic Language of Early 1900s Train-Hoppers
I came across hobo symbol system in Richard Sproat‘s „Symbols: An Evolutionary History from the Stone Age to the Future“. In an overview of non-linguistic symbols systems he groups hobo signs with Gaunerzinken, signs used by German-speaking vagabonds. The body of research for them was more skewed towards crime as most analysis was done as part of police investigations. Would really recommend this book as a non-professional level introduction on the topic.

Thank you, I found this very insightful.
p1anecrazy··on The Awful German Language (1880)
One of grading criteria for German B2 exam (mid-level in European framework) is Sprachgefühl, a feeling of (a feel for?) language. As mentioned earlier, if studying as an adult, you will probably keep making mistakes, but a lot just comes from being inside the German bubble.
p1anecrazy··on In SSRI withdrawal, brain zaps go from overlooked symptom to center stage (2023)
The only time I got them was getting off a high dose of Strattera (atomoxetine), the rare non-stimulant ADHD medication, cold turkey.
