I think that it depends on what phase of the project you are in when you start working together.

If you start working on a protytype / v1 together then 50/50 makes sense but if you have already started / are close to being done w/ a prototype when you start working together then 50/50 would not make much sense to me.

I am a contract programmer and I get set my own hours so I usually code in 10 - 12 hour blocks every other day.

What makes it so great is that it lets you focus on code instead of using the program.

VS Studio, eclipse etc.. feels like I am using an application as much if not more than I am coding.

I find purpose in the products that I make and how they impact the people / world around me.

Its a good show. Its funny to see people with really odd ideas like the "Ionic Ear".

It also made me realize how good a deal YC is.

This is very true; when I got rid of my TV my productivity nearly doubled.

I was wondering about this too; I did not even go to college. I graduated HS at 14 and started working for companies developing software.

Will this put me at a disadvantage if there are lots of MIT, Stanford etc... grads that apply to YC W10.

The plethora Erlang articles is simply an effort to drive out the people that keep posting lame stories that have no place on hacker news and return to more technical stuff that we all want to read. If it means we don't have so many mainstream articles being posted here here then IMHO all Erlang all day is a small price to pay.

I was considering this but I think that you really need to work with a co-founder face to face.

I spent lots of time working for ad agencies in NYC; while there I noticed that their clients kept asking them to identify and engage influencers. They constantly had a hard time with this and more often than not the client was disappointed so I developed a utility that allows them to identify and engage influencers.

By engage I mean; incorporate them into existing ad campaigns.

Well... the thing is that I am almost done with my product. I have landed about 15 contracts so by the time I go up to SF I will have clients using the software. Part of my concern is that I am so far along I am not sure if the title "co-founder" would fit anyone.

Well... I am only a master @ the tech stuff but i am competent at the others.
