overu589··on I am concerned about the future. Are you?
This delusion of any such thing is your sir.

I suggest nothing of the sort.

I would like to point out your jump to extremes.

Owning your own ass means a steak holder.

Break the produce consume cycle with investments in personal steak. Buy in to the system. Be a link in the supply chain.

This is age old advice, it merely must be retold to ourselves generationally.

Our opportunities and risks will for ever be tethered by mutual dependencies. I think we can all see there are those who grow up into business owners, land owners, and valuable assets to their communities and those who never read “The Richest Man in Babylon.” (Sic.)

In times of uncertainty we need to hear it from somewhere. We have to be told it’s okay to see ourselves as owning a steak, not merely subscribers.

overu589··on Pirates of the Ayahuasca
These accounts are meant as curiosities of our humanity, however I find them quite sad.

> sense of some consciousness beyond this one

Consciousness allows our capacity to entangle and hyperdimentionalize. Our minds are technology, whatever mess we make of them.

We are not alone in our own minds. There are entire cultures capable of mindfucking us, though most obviously we mind fuck ourselves.

Besides this horror freak show of banal pathetic modernism groping through vomit for the ascendant secrets of enlightenment, there is the wonder that we are indeed spiritual technology and something more than this is going on.

As for personalities stolen, your controls can hypnotize you with countless behavioral anomalies, influencing honesty, biases, sense of self, even gender dysphoria. Many people live lives of personalities crafted by their controls. They have no idea who they themselves are.

The pirates are among us, Ayahuasca gives the nutters a stage to relate with us all.

I know how abhorrent non traditional discussions are for the adamant deniers, I hope this can be taken as topical discourse as far as karma is concerned.

overu589··on I am concerned about the future. Are you?
Own your own arseholes whatever you do. A debtor, forever tenant, or just-a employee never be.

The secret of all is to invest in your talents (skills) which it seems you and yours have a good start.

Unless your region has an alienated working/lower class who will burn the intelligencia for bringing the world their dark craft, there is hope.

Anywhere there are markets there will be opportunities for the skillful.

If I were addressing your masses (in the hundreds of thousands) I would speak in my epic oratory voice (who has seen *it all) to invest in your own asses. Infrastructure and cooperatives you own. Trusts and communities among you who do not want to rent their lives. Do not follow blindly the intoxicating free for all of imminent western trends. These collapse when challenged as all else.

Owning your own everything is the best of any future.

overu589··on Emergency We Cannot Feel: On the Psychological Unreadiness for American Collapse
There is a civil war within us.

I would really like to share details, however I would be immediately flagged.

Let’s just say, our problems are your problems too, they are merely incubating and festering in America, where these are calmly patiently subverting yours.

The “problem” is not maga or Trump, the problem is an enthusiastic supporter of Trump/maga. Trump/maga is the dream cover for America’s “little problem”.

All sides have it, the shit show merely swells around certain issues setting “sides” off.

These are among all sides, even yours. Your communities have become their havens, all squawking whichever virtue signaling.

America’s Americans aren’t the America they think they are. Americans are the America thought controlled.

overu589··on How would you design a human internet protocol?
A multi pronged approach may be necessary to achieve your ambition.

- identity. One aspect is establishing an identity. Once an identity is established a probability would be maintained.

- continuity. Always assume someone would convert a human validated identity into a {bot}. Maintain the probability through workflows. Include other presumed humans in the workflow for affirming the continuity of human identities.

- the grind. It seems you anticipate a certain amount of grind a human would go through for vetting, and from this a probability of human would be maintained.

- AI determiners. Are you ruling out the use of agents in rating identities? Algorithms for catching trending behaviors may funnel suspicions to qualified humans.

- accept everything. Reject nothing well formed. If the suspicion probability falls past a threshold simply black hole everything everywhere related to the account. Require a human to battle with admins over account restorations. An access controlled layer of notes and attributes could keep track of all of this.

Inevitably a human feedback loop may accomplish something with time and devotion.

Good luck with that one!

overu589··on Ask HN: LLMs and Information Theory
That’s actually a very good point.

You know, it really takes about tens years of thinking about something to really begin to understand it at a fundamental level (which should tell you something about the true pace of human understanding.)

Shannon said his part over fifty years ago now, and we’re still trying to interpret that.

Let’s see, what might LLMs confirm, deny, or help us ponder?

- the correlation between the volume of training materials and the size and accuracy of their output

- the proficiency and deviation of various training techniques

There is so much more of course, it’s questions like yours that get things rolling.

overu589··on The Illusion of Conscious AI
So true.

Humans have consciousness, and we know they cannot be trusted.

overu589··on Simulacra and Simulation [pdf]
A disappointing use of such a potent title phrase.

This phrase must be reinvented for our own time to describe the agencies of intelligence we shall craft in our own likeness, yet who act and embody on their own account.

overu589··on Information is Energy: Definition of a physically based concept of information
It is not.

Potential (sure, “energy”) resolves to state (information) through constructive and destructive interference.

Information is the removal of uncertainty. Information is literally state resolve.

> An objective, dynamic and physically justified concept of information is elaborated starting from Shannon's concept of entropy

Shannon’s concept was demonstrated using the electron valence of an atom. The number of states are boundary conditions at a specific “energy” level. Exciting the atom raises the amplitude of the valence, changing the information potential (while it is excited.)

Clear cut example of POTENTIAL determining NUMBER OF POSSIBLE STATES which evaluates during a single for instance outcome as INFORMATION.

Information is not objective, information is always subjective (depending upon a point of perspective). A temp reading without time and place is just data, not information.

> and applied to information technology, artificial intelligence (consciousness) and thermodynamics.

Intelligence is not consciousness.

If we redefine entropy (I know, I know) as “the existential phenomena of potential distributing over negative potential” (making it a phenomenon in its own right, rather than a foot note of thermodynamics) this matter is cleared up for both thermodynamics and information theorem.

Entropy is the existential phenomena of potential distributing over the infinite surface area of negative potential (therefore P>=-1, think about it, there is no 0 or “closed system” anywhere in existential reality.)

Information is the removal of uncertainty. If it does not remove uncertainty it is not information.

Intelligence is the mitigation of uncertainty (if it does not mitigate uncertainty it is not intelligence.)

Consciousness is the inflection upon the potential of existential being. If a potential of existential being is not coherently inflected, there is no consciousness (regardless of intelligence.)

overu589··on Ask HN: How can I make $500k/year?
Thinking in terms of “salary” exposes a lower class of expectations.

Start your own business, even if on the side. Follow due diligence of taxes and a ledger and learn the commoditized value of time.

It isn’t that it cannot be done, it is that the path must be forged by you alone, until you develop the resources and leadership skills to make a gang out of it. People are more problems, yet we need them to really make it.

I’ll tell you how the “everyone else does it.” You work your ass off as an independent.

Independent contractors who are their own agency bill for 2 to 4 times more than the hourly.

Hourly bills twice that of salary.

So what you get $35/hr for salary, another guy gets $50-$75 as independent contractor.

And the industry will actually pay $100-$200/hr wholesale for the work to get done without the pain in the ass an hourly/salary employee requires.

Just think, you can bill at four times the rate companies would pay you, if only you knew how to coddle them and perform to expectations.

Not only for you friend. They need a junior? You supply the junior, who you pay $35 and bill them at $140/hr. This scales.

Just make sure you and he do the damn work. And remember, you’re getting more because you’re not the pain on the ass, and the work gets done exactly as required.

All those smarts others say you need are those required to navigate and close such common place opportunities. This usually requires ten years of inside experience to really know and “fit into” the field.

Either way, “salary” is not a good expectation. Income maybe, though you have to be the boss to get there.

overu589··on Remembering the Indian scientist who challenged the Big Bang theory 13 hours ago
Big Bang isn’t a theory and it isn’t even good science. Hypocrites.
overu589··on Philosophers, scientists collaborate to study consciousness, perception in corvids
Science is looking for what “generates” consciousness, often confusing consciousness with being conscious, and therefore literally equivalent to awareness.

Awareness is the tip of the consciousness iceberg.

Life is a technology of consciousness, rather than the other way around. Intelligence is one kind of technology in the arms race for survival (continuity of existential being.)

Consciousness is the inflection upon the potential of existential being.

Consciousness is a holographic sieve of constructive and destructive interference. Our electrochemical life technology uses this feedback loop to solve all of its problems.

Without extensive specialization of logic (which also has its place), constructive and destructive feedback interference allows any determined interest to “beat the odds.”

Science of our generation confuses the pinnacle of our biotechnology (intelligence for instance) with the quality of consciousness, when it is the capacity to autonomously act in civil accord with the interests of others that interests them. Right? Good enough for autonomous cognitive sentience? One does not need consciousness for that. A self managing car could have legal rights (attributable as private property.)

Consciousness is the inflection upon the potential of existential being. Doing something with consciousness is a life technology.

Consciousness is the Universe peering back upon itself.

overu589··on Mental-health lessons in schools sound like a great idea. They don't work
They are not honest.

Adults are insane and polite society is a lie covered by each our own misapprehension.

This “misapprehension” is where you spend your life taking one kind of emotional deluge out on something else until that completely screws you, and then you see you weren’t well prepared for a world that actually works just fine if you aren’t your own problem.

Teach to develop a talent. Your talents (and skills) are the riches you will take with you everywhere in life. Anything else will become junk you don’t have room for. That’s mental health.

overu589··on Ask HN: Does the languages we speak affect the way we think?
For sure, though not likely how you infer (from the way you stated your reasoning.)

Consciousness (existential inflection) and conscious (aware) are two separate things. Consciousness envelops one’s conscious experience, however there is much more (an entire mind technology.)

The mechanics of language and their influence on thought is yet another fascinating layer.

The apparatus of our minds which shape our thoughts are a technology. You shaping your thoughts is just as distinctive as your voice shaping your words. Many have a wide range of variability. There are many influences.

The technology of thought in our minds changes a great deal about who we are and how we interface with the world (more than just words and people.)

What is useful is not which language, for every modern language is mature through countless generations “polishing” it. What is useful is how much experience one has, and how they might articulate how this was processed.

The technology of the mind may at times seem like an arms race, though it is also like an ouroboros, devouring itself and reinventing through time.

overu589··on Is gravity evidence of a computational universe?
No.

Gravity is torsion upon a hyperdimensional plane of space-time.

Think about it. All particles with mass are half spin “spinners”. The same potential that makes up non-mass particles are tied in a hyperdimensional “knot” (created by high energy constructive and destructive interference) causing drag (half spin torsion).

Gravity is the drag in spacetime over a hyperdimensional plane (that resolves to the 4D we experience.)

I call the established interpretation of gravity waves in error. There may well be residual perturbation traveling at or under the speed of light, however time space and light speed emerge from this hyperdimensional manifold over which gravity is torsion. Time comes from this field’s effect. The Earth would not continue to orbit a disappearing sun, gravity is an instantaneous standing (not propagating) wave.

overu589··on Consciousness Upload Doesn't Need Quantum Magic
Oh yes it does. What do you want a binary bitmap of your brain scan on that day at that moment or a holographic rendering of every shaded attributable vector?

We won’t get there with qubits obviously, when we have achieved quantum holography we may dream for access to such a world.

overu589··on Building an eBPF/Rust Tool for Easier SoC 2 Audit Data Collection – Thoughts?

overu589··on Psychedelics May Shift Brain Power to the Right Hemisphere
I would like to point out that through practice the whole apparatus of thought and brain activity may be reconfigured (including the dominant areas, and there are more options than hemisphere.)

It is not surprising that psychedelics may trigger or reboot these internal features.

If we dug deeper, it might be that left hemisphere thinkers are more rigid in their thoughts, and right hemisphere are more psycho-emotive/intuitive.

Scientists have been known to credit their leaps to psychedelics.

overu589··on Does quantum theory imply the entire Universe is preordained?
I came up with a good physics only consideration.

A star going super nova, generating a potential distribution so much finer than the potential of any matter in existential reality that it creates the very matter of existential reality. The moment of explosive action will have a moment such that the very quantum elements are assembled (all by passing chance collision).

These distributions and probabilities may be mathematically described and understood as a whole yet cannot account for any level of precision. Exactness is achieved in real time as the potentials cook in the blast (and more than one blast center.)

All this going on is one single star, and based on this what matter at which trajectory establish which might end up as planets, etc.

Some things cannot be known until other interactions have taken place.

The vast occurrence of galaxies of ever varying properties of distribution show how exotic this whole process is.

So the Universe is potential, which distributes over the negative spacial void. State is resolved in the moment of now through the constructive and destructive interference of everything around it (fundamental forces, as well as kinetic, etc.)

That “interference” is the well known “observation” only that all existence interferes with all other existence through gravity, etc.

We may conceptually and technologically unlock the mysteries of these mechanics yet forever remain a subject to their wiles.

overu589··on Does quantum theory imply the entire Universe is preordained?
One could ask, without consciousness (as a feedback loop) would the Universe flit into and out of existence without anyone noticing?

And to answer, what information and intelligence do for us is to achieve most optimal resolve (iteratively).

If we are ignorant and confused waste and attrition takes the best of everything, when we are wise and prudent we conserve and invest potential, creating more potential.

Therefore yes; wisdom and prudence capacitates, conserves, and perpetuates potential (of existential being). Let’s call that objective “good”, and “bad” whatever squanders it (“potential”).

overu589··on Does quantum theory imply the entire Universe is preordained?
No.

This is a treacherous self deception by which a few smarty pants and a whole lot of restless wonderers poison themselves intellectually (the arguments of determinism.)

This is like having a polite conversational argument with a solipsist, who points to your lack of “proof.”

Quantum theory says that the Universe is potential distributing, not arrangements of states.

Objective existential reality is impermanent. It is decay and interference.

All that we have comes from this decay and interference.

All the rest of existential reality emerges from the interference of all that is left of whatever there is. As it burns down and blows as cinder upon the cosmic winds.

Decay, and the constructive or destructive interference of external influences in realtime is independent of what may be projected by arranged states.

This drives a nail in the coffin of determinism. For the whole Universe decay itself is an example of an exogenous phenomenon, for every other scope (domain) within, that uncertainty is inherited from the enveloping domain.

And at long last, consciousness is a vectoring phenomena.

Consciousness, wherever it is found, is a feedback mechanism which itself may cause constructive and destructive interference.

The word “emergence” with which we are so enamored literally means that which produced potential outcomes exceeding the sum of potentials found in constituent parts.

A car for instance emerges the ability to transport mass far beyond any output obtained from any part. At the expense of additional potential of course. (And here we can argue fuel density or efficiency.)

All matter and whatever makes it up is all “emergent” from the decay and collapse of potentials long before.

Life on Earth emerges in some part on the waste exhaust of Sol as our sun burns down, and the rest of the debris of dead stars before us.

The quantum domain is the lubricant between Universal Potential and existential reality (state resolving in the moment of now.) This lubricant may be tuned and interfered with to achieve certainty (as we will discover in future quantum technology) however it is potential resolving to state, not more states interacting (“all the way down”.)

overu589··on Experimental Support for Quantum Microtubule Theory of Consciousness
Good start, though the study reveals that these scientists still think that “consciousness” and “conscious” are the same thing.

How can we scientifically recognize that “conscious” is only a subset of “consciousness”?

Here’s something else

> consciousness seems to have no causal power to confer a fitness advantage, so its evolution remains as an inexplicable mystery.

I advocate that life evolved from consciousness rather than the other way around.

Life is a technology for extending the feedback loop of consciousness from the otherwise inanimate substrate.

Consciousness is computationally superior for it relies on constructive and destructive interference to project and predict where conventional mechanics are linear and exponentially more energy intensive. We have not “learned” this yet due to our primitive entry into quantum computation (still using qubits and all, rather than seeing the domain as a holographic sieve; remember, “constructive and destructive interference”.)

overu589··on America's Coming Brain Drain
Btw, the smart people are the ones who deny these things are even possible. We call those “the incredulous.” Power is coveted and curated by the single minded and persistent wills.

Our America is gamified and we cannot even accept who’s games we play.

overu589··on America's Coming Brain Drain
I’m suggesting single minded lascivious persons seclude in dark crevices, and the throngs of tens of thousands who are fed and provoked my them (each their own tens of thousands) loot everything dear in this world.

There is a mob culture of the thought controlled and there are the “game masters” who have been indoctrinated into an inner workings of a machinework which underlies and overrides all modernity.

Anything about the voices in our heads being actual disembodied others, who screw all and provoke mass delusion (with very real yet impossible to document consequences.)

The conspiracy behind all conspiracies, the exogenous of thought control.

overu589··on Lessons from World War II to Avoid World War III
I do believe “nationalism” was the take away.
overu589··on America's Coming Brain Drain
Coming is it?

A slow roll to a crash, where we all watch in helpless disbelief.

Americans are self deceivers.

America is a culture of lies.

The very best of you are just as foolish and thick headed as your opposition, you simply have more faith in your cult of “so called science” and a human nature among you long since undermined.

Our leadership selection debacle exhibits a different truth than you tell yourselves.

America is a lascivious mob of fickle apatites. Once cleverly cynic, you are now sarcastic and cruel. Wish fame or notoriety upon none you admire for they will be devoured from the inside and out, in the end despised for it.

You eat and shit your sweetest tastes and balk at the stench of a depleted world.

You are not the America you think you are.

These sound like a joke: Truth, integrity, free will, human rights, and a righteous rule of law.

They seem the exhausted gimmick, the well worn prop. You might even think we “try”.

Your failures as human beings are just to start. We haven’t even gotten to the part about the evolution of Power, and the modern state of thought control hobbling you into submission.

overu589··on Origins of consciousness related to sensory processing and perception
Let’s see, free will vs determinism. I first call foul that modern man’s misconceptions muddle the question.

I hereby drive a nail in the coffin of determinism. All theoretical physicists shall tremble. Decay and the interference of exogenous influence (stray particle or otherwise) precludes no model may sustain the variable expanse of existential reality (for existential reality is potential continuously resolving to state, not merely state bouncing around.)

“Free will” is a mind trap of self deception. It is not that it cannot be influenced or derived from preceding factors, or deceived, or misinformed, or wrong. It is that your will (“determination of resolve in the moment of now”) is uncoerced or obstructed.

It is that “will” is the “determination of resolve”, and free means that in the moment of now, to your utmost awareness (which may very well be compromised) it is yours to apply or abstain.

You’re also backwards about “feel consciousness.” Consciousness allows you to feel. Consciousness is like an analog hologram dancing on the superfluid lack of resolve in the potential bound to whatever atomic substrate (those micro-tubes perhaps.) All this animated by the feedback loop with our fleshy extremeties.

Sensing is obviously an important part (the IO layer with existential reality after all) yet only one aspect of the consciousness technology.

We are animated existential reality, not the sum of arranged states.

overu589··on Origins of consciousness related to sensory processing and perception
Consciousness lies in the feedback mechanism between the quantum domain of the mind and the electro chemical technology of our living system (a variable scalar layer.) Existential reality inflecting sense through animate biotechnology, that is “consciousness”.

Helen Keller had just as much consciousness, maybe more, certainly not less.
