organicmultiloc··on No Thanks, Google. I'll Speak for Myself
Google's contempt for all humans that aren't executives at Google has always been baffling to me.

If I call a company and can't reach a human within about 90 seconds I don't do business with that company. End of discussion dot period.

I'm sure Google has decided that only 5% of people are like that and therefore I don't exist but they are completely wrong. Sooner or later the ad gravy train will run out and they will have to reevaluate this statistical arrogance style of business management.

Money is fiction, rich people understand that and embrace it, poor people do not.
organicmultiloc··on Xen Security Advisory: x86 – mishandling of debug exceptions
I don't think you need a ton of context, it looks like a straighforward exploit for breaking out of a VM on Xen, affects most (all?) operating systems.
organicmultiloc··on A mistake about manufacturing costing Americans millions of jobs
There is some deep history here that has been barely reported on at all by any journalist, anywhere. It happened in many industries, in many political groups.

Rumsfeld et al started this bigtime in the 80s, selling and giving tech and IP to several asian countries for diplomatic favors. We were not consulted as to why at the time, just forced to make ourselves highly available for several Chinese government partners that were very interested in some of our advances, particularly in networking and manufacturing.

This song and dance apparently accelerated in the G W years, but by then all half our company had shut down and I had abandoned tech for the second time.

organicmultiloc··on Version 6 of Angular Now Available
This sounds like how you'd end up doing web development in the least efficient way possible. There is a ton of space for reuse, the web is dead simple and the same pattern shows up over and over and over.
organicmultiloc··on Macbook Pro frying USB peripherals
I just threw up a little bit in my mouth this was so upsetting to read. Somehow I had forgotten about the escape key with the rest of the touchbar nonsense.
organicmultiloc··on Amazon threatens to suspend Signal's AWS account over censorship circumvention
This doesn't seem like a good solution from any angle. Do we need to change TCP/IP/whatever to actually allow network traffic to be secure again?
organicmultiloc··on New A.I. application can write its own code
I don't know if we are 10 years or 50 years away from there being no more software development jobs but it's gonna happen.
organicmultiloc··on Google's “Director of Engineering” Hiring Test (2016)
I interviewed at Google a million years ago and got the same sort of "trivia list", which was surprising to me. I passed most of them and everyone seemed excited about me while I was there, but then I started criticizing the interview process and (more importantly) Google Finance as being pretty bad, and this really upset everyone.

I could tell they weren't used to ever being criticized, pointing out how the interview process had effectively zero behavioral aspects or problem solving questions, as well as all the gaps between one of their products and the competition, and they did not give me an offer.

The funny part is they incorporated much of my feedback into Google Finance years later. It's still a mess, but hey at least they made some progress.

So we've come full circle, back to the Windows 98 days. Amazing.
organicmultiloc··on A brief list of what Scrum gets wrong
I've never worked at a place where I've been allowed to say no, I think scrum working the way in which you describe is more the exception than the rule.
