There is a time pressure for them to IPO given the terms of some loans they took out in 2016. It seems the loan included penalties tied to how long it takes them to IPO. Apparently for every six months thereafter till the stock lists, the interest rate will keep going up by 1%.

I'm not sure I understand where the gyroscope comes in. Is he saying the warped image on the LCD changes as the iPad rotates? Does that mean two people sitting on opposite sides of the cone are seeing the same image?

This is much the same in the UK. Hospitals struggle to fill rota gaps, so offer locum shifts at sometimes 2-3x the normal rate to fill gaps at short notice.

However staffing is so tight now, one can sustain a workweek solely on locum shifts.

Most doctors at junior level have taken notice, and many (more then half afaik) defer entering specialty training after their first two years to spend a year (or three!) solely filling these shifts.

At the cost of job progression and workplace continuity, you're getting paid way more for the same work, but with way more shift flexibility and less CPD paperwork.

The feeling among a lot of my friends is that if regular and locum wages met in the middle, it might help things. Can't really account for that flexibility of what is essentially taskrabbit for doctors though.

The loss of codec support in Quicktime was probably related to improving battery life by forcing use of H264, which is hardware accelerated.

I mean, I agree with the premise, but is handing over a locked phone to an untrusted third party any better than an unlocked one? Doesn't physical access always mean game over? If they know they're returning the device to you, can't some sort hardware interception, keylogger, or listening device be installed inside the phone?
