This would very quickly devolve into either a hardcore bullying platform, or a banfest of everyone who criticizes the favorite people of the site's owner, his friends, and moderators.
Not just image searches, the entire website is basically unusable, especially without proper filters to block whole screen popups, unwanted login prompts, and modal windows obscuring everything. Not to mention the JS messing up the browser history so you can't go back to any page, because their scripts will fuck that up and only store the first and last page in the chain.
Nothing against TOTP per se, but plenty enough against Google Authenticator and its typical use cases. If you log into a website on your phone and use an authenticator running on the same phone, it's not 2FA, it's just two passwords.
That's why everyone sane avoids giving out their phone numbers to any company except dire necessities, like maybe banks. Use U2F, don't use "google authenticators" or any other pseudo-2FA. No website has any business knowing your phone number.
Bonus: phone number databases are used in online tracking for connecting accounts across many websites to datamine more accurate data and form better profiles. Everyone privacy minded should be aware of this.
The day this comes out I hope there will be a browser extension that automatically strips the retarded DRM by copying the html from the "viewer" website and replies to the original sender with the contents, so that a "cracked" copy of the email is saved in both the sender's and recipient's history as it should have been in the first place.
They're cocky enough now to think that they can take on the e-mail as a de facto standard and do the Embrace, Extend, Extinguish dance with it.
This is akin to DRM and just like DRM it will be ineffective - if I can see it, I can forward it, copy it, and print it, and do whatever I want with it. Users are being led to believe that they can enforce these sorts of controls over email but they can't.
It's a matter of policy for them to never disclose anything but the vaguest possible details about the case if there's any suspicion of wrongdoing on the user's part.
So now anyone who has ever owned a terminated account is a Typhoid Mary and as Google refuses to provide any details about their bans and cuts all communications with banned accounts, it's like being exiled by a commandment from high above. People talk about possible future AI abuses but here we are with people getting abused by an AI system right now. Being banned from ever having a Google Play account is a death sentence for an Android developer, especially since anyone who ever comes into contact with you risks being exiled by association.
I also wrote a NES emulator in Rust, and managed to do it without using a single unsafe block. I used SDL bindings for graphics, if that counts, but it can also run in headless mode (for testing) without SDL perfectly well.
Well-documented, but many sources are contradictory. For such well researched hardware, there is a lot to be confused about when researching this topic by yourself.
Horror stories like this one crop up every now and then. The other time they locked all the G Suite accounts of an entire company just because one of the employees has made a couple of bad chargebacks for some Android apps on his private account that was supplied as a recovery email for his company account. And they didn't even provide a reason, the company had to investigate and find out on their own.
They should start thinking about producing enough waste for themselves if they're unable to get by without imports, this creates a huge dependency on the US and most developed countries are completely self-sufficient when it comes to waste production.
I eat McDonald's once or twice a month and I'm looked down upon for eating junk food, meanwhile a whale eats nothing but _literal_ junk and it makes the news and the whale is called a victim? Something doesn't add up here.
At this point, between no encryption, horrible clients, mistreatment of irc users, and questionable corporate behavior there's nothing in Slack that's worth saving it for me. Superior free software alternatives exist that bring the same or better functionality while also giving the user full control.
Huge difference between Google being aware that an email alias <name>@<domain> exists and it having access to the contents of all your emails including purchases, subscriptions, login patterns, GPS data, connections to other emails, etc.
There's so much human effort directed at developing sci-fi level technologies to target advertising and eventually help sell you crap you don't need. We could have Mars colonies by now if that effort wasn't wasted on something so meaningless.
