Errr... no.
nodata··on A command-line weather app built using Elixir
It's nice, but it's not beautiful. Let's stop calling everything beautiful.
nodata··on French Intelligence Law: OVH's Point of View
I'm willing to be it will change people's behaviour. How much are we betting here?
nodata··on How Old Do I Look?
Of course I'm an outlier, I'm on HN. We're all outliers.

But we are the techies who will remind people: "don't forget that's not encrypted", "don't forget they might re-use your photograph".

nodata··on How Old Do I Look?
Non-SSL, and no explicit statement that my photo won't be reused? Cool site, but I'm not using it.
nodata··on Some American Airlines planes are grounded because the pilots’ iPads crashed
"The software and data that powers American’s iPad-based flight kits are provided by Jeppesen, a unit of Boeing Digital Aviation."

So not ForeFlight. Also see https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9457945.

A very well written article.
nodata··on x*sin(y)
The link doesn't work for me (Firefox). I have to hit Enter in the search box for it to work.
nodata··on Fixing Italy, a little bit at a time
> How would you expect this to be remotely legal ?

The company is a separate legal entity.

The company pays corporation tax in the country where the company is registered, you pay income tax in the country you live, and then there is also vat.

How?
nodata··on Graph of Foursquare's Popularity After Removing Check-Ins
Great! So they're they losing less money?
nodata··on Jennicam and the Birth of 'Lifecasting'
Digg does the same with videos. Very frustrating.
nodata··on Graph of Foursquare's Popularity After Removing Check-Ins
Are they making more money than before?
nodata··on Lightning on wheels: the insane electric racing of Formula E
Long live the steam engine too!
nodata··on Plain web text offenders: sending my location over HTTP when HTTPS was possible
An average user doesn't know what an API is.
nodata··on Plain web text offenders: sending my location over HTTP when HTTPS was possible
'Perhaps "This app would like to use HTTP for its API" should be a permission that the user has to explicitly give.'

Good idea.

nodata··on Voyage to Nowhere: The Amazon Kindle Story
The Voyage has buttons that you can't push. It uses a strange touch sensitive mechanism that works badly enough that you can't rely on it.
nodata··on Voyage to Nowhere: The Amazon Kindle Story
Removing physical buttons to turn the pages was a giant leap backwards. It's stopped me from buying the Voyage.
nodata··on On the Great Filter, existential threats, and griefers
Who says we're not that?
nodata··on Why we will not be registering easydns.sucks
Because free speech?

One example: Paypal Sucks was a great website that impacted a big company by bringing their terrible policies to people's attention.

Should they also police anti-gay marriage domains, and pro Westboro Baptist Church domains?

nodata··on Apple – OS X – Photos
What are you talking about? HFS is creaky and ancient and doesn't have checksums, ZFS and btrfs do.
nodata··on AirBnB is now available in Cuba
Are you verified? Do you have good feedback?
nodata··on Stop using tail -f (mostly)
Yes, but cpu is normally the problem. vim is very inefficient with long lines, combine that with all of vim's features (syntax highlighting, etc.) and you have the potential to make a problem worse.
nodata··on 1,000-year-old onion and garlic eye remedy kills MRSA
> how good medical knowledge was 1,000 years ago.
