> I think it’s fascinating that you actually believe a coup is even remotely possible, much less the actual intent.

Once again, are you not aware of Jan 6? What do you think happens in a third-world coups?

Do you think its tanks protecting the coup-master like some blockbuster movie? No. Most coups are subtle - simply by a narcissist not letting go of their seat. Once that happens and people inevitably come to revolt, they call on to their own supporters to protect "freedom" - causing riots or even a civil war - a war caused not for any good but only for that one tyrant's own narcissism.

This was America on Jan 6, 2021. We'll see how the next one transition fares.

Jan 6 was a brazen attempt at a coup. It was Mike Pence who refused to break the country for the narcissist's demands - which was the only reason Biden could be sweared in.

We were very close to a third world level coup thanks to Trump back in 2021.

This time around, the call could be in JD Vance's hands - the same person supporting Republicans blocking the swearing in of a house representative.

For all the dirty partisan things you point out about democrats, they have never attempted a coup. If you think our country and constitution is worth fighting for, you too will not support coup candidates, pedophiles, unitary executives, and separation of church and state.

As it stands, if you support republicans, you are against the above principles, regardless of your whataboutism.

You miss the point too. Congress is going to have a tough time imposing this groupthink - because it would take convincing 217+ reps and 60 senators as opposed to the unitary 1 person.

This is not a government issue. It is a Republican government issue.

Democrat governments don't seem to purge information. Republicans are so infantile that they literally display a picture of an Autopen instead of Biden as President in the historical presidents wall.

Republicans are so infantile as to want to erase the reality of slavery.

Republicans are so infantile that they want to erase evolution from textbooks.

Republicans are so infantile that they want to erase the Jan 6 coup from memory.

Republicans are so infantile that they want to erase real jobs data from BLS site.

I could go on. But this is a Republican problem. No both-sides here.

Yes, your assessment is accurate. The Republic is broken and the Republicans are actively breaking it as much as they can.
nine_zeros··on With deadline looming 4 of 9 universities reject Trumps pact to remake higher ed
Yep, they don't. That's why these demands are bogus coming from the president.

If they were to come from Congress, they'd never pass as they stand because these entities would demand their elected reps don't let this pass

nine_zeros··on With deadline looming 4 of 9 universities reject Trumps pact to remake higher ed
Yes, they are not objectively "reasonable" that's why I added the "- if they came from Congress" part. And I can't imagine Congress would pass these rules because of the Senate structure.

"Reasonable" is a distributed discovery process. A unitary order can never be "reasonable".

nine_zeros··on With deadline looming 4 of 9 universities reject Trumps pact to remake higher ed
They are not objectively "reasonable standards". Who said they are objectively reasonable standards? They are standards sent by a unitary. They might seem reasonable to one person but not to another. This is why Congress is supposed to set these rules - so that the definition of reasonable is spread all over the country. Reasonable standards are a discovery process, not a unitary dictatorial step.

Hell, this is the whole logic of the American Republic - no kings - since 1776.

nine_zeros··on With deadline looming 4 of 9 universities reject Trumps pact to remake higher ed
When requested by the executive under threat of cutting funding, these requests are not requests, they are demands.

When executive demands something of private citizens and private entities, it means they are bossing over said people/entities. Nobody elected the executive to boss over people. When Congress attempts to set these same regulations, these entities get a chance to reach out to their reps and ask for changes. When Congress sets regulations, power is dispersed among 400+ reps.

You are thinking about the outcome of the regulations feeling the same. "No kings" are demanding that the means to setting rules be distributed among reps - when the rulemaking is distributed, you'll find that the rules demanded will change - because most people don't want these exact rules as they stand. And they don't want to submit to a fickle corrupt executive who will change these rules selectively on a dime on a random Friday.

nine_zeros··on With deadline looming 4 of 9 universities reject Trumps pact to remake higher ed
These are all reasonable standards - if they came from Congress. They are not reasonable standards if they came for a fickle and corrupt mafia at gunpoint.

The entire no kings protest is exactly about that - executive overreach overriding will of the people and causing irresponsible harm.

nine_zeros··on US car repossessions surge as more Americans default on auto loans
It took long because during the last Trump era, lenders figured out a neat trick - extend the loan terms to 7 years instead of the conventional 5. That, and the low interest rates hooked people. This exaggerated during the pandemic with people taking insane $1000/month loans.

Trump comes back, downturn comes back to main street, and voila - loans running naked.

Isn't it widely accepted that every country is playing the art of the deal with America after having been bullied by this administration so much? While in understand where you are coming from, I don't think we should completely destroy coal mines. They should be kept around as a backup.

That said, I would be 100% onboard with a future administration applying a massive tax on the wealthy to fund solar plants, rooftops, and wind energy - 100% paid for by the wealthy who are profiting from this administration at the expense of our lives.

By almost all measures, Trump is worse than Xi. The only reason Trump's rhetoric is pared down is because of the American system - which republicans hate and are trying to skirt with executive orders.

Did you just describe communism? Republicans are the biggest communists in America.
nine_zeros··on Federal Shutdown Means More Grants Won't Be Reviewed This Cycle
Lots of problems in China. But if I were a betting person, I would bet they'll fix their problems far better than America because of 3 reasons

1. They care about citizens more than billionaires

2. They are not obsessed with partisan and religious takeover

3. They don't have a narcissistic tyrant driving the country down.

This can all change if they get their own narcissistic tyrant someday - and they have a poorer political system to deal with tyrants. But that's only in comparison to historical America. Trumpistan America might be comparable in political weakness to communist China.

nine_zeros··on FAA is granting Boeing “limited delegation” to certify airworthiness
Looks like you are just a racist trying to pin things on black people.

Mr. Racist, here's a little fact check from chatGPT. You are still blaming people for their skin color - have some shame.

1. No "2013 airframe scandal" like that exists.

Boeing has had multiple controversies (e.g. outsourcing of 787 Dreamliner parts, later the 737 MAX crisis), but none that match this story.

In the 2000s and early 2010s, Boeing did face production quality problems with the 787 Dreamliner because large parts of the aircraft were outsourced globally, and some suppliers had issues meeting specifications. But this was not tied to race or prison labor in the way described.

2. No evidence of a race-based relocation of factories.

Boeing has moved or opened facilities (e.g. in South Carolina) for business, tax, and labor reasons. There is no credible reporting that this was to "give jobs to Black people" or to people leaving prison.

The claim sounds like a distortion of real events: Boeing did use suppliers in different regions, including some that hired less-skilled labor, but this was a cost and logistics decision.

3. About the “manual etching defects.”

Real reports do exist about manufacturing defects: gaps, shimming issues, and mis-drilled holes have been found in some Boeing fuselages, particularly in the 787. These were documented by whistleblowers and investigations.

But they were not due to "manual etching by ex-prisoners"; they came from industrial quality-control failures and supplier/manufacturer mismanagement.

4. Decision to “keep defective parts.”

There have indeed been allegations that Boeing sometimes tolerated defects to keep production on schedule. This is a legitimate criticism, but again, it has nothing to do with the story in the text you shared about racial hiring or prisons.
