nickthegreek··on OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Defends Pentagon Work to Staff
not working at xAI makes you a fussy employee?
nickthegreek··on The whole thing was a scam
Then disassemble the argument the author is making and show people an alternative reality based take if you want to be taken seriously.

Seems to be working out alright for old Wexner.
nickthegreek··on Timeline: Anthropic, OpenAI, and U.S. Government
What’s with this policing of frameworks people want to use?
nickthegreek··on President Trump bans Anthropic from use in government systems
It was Altman. Papers have been signed.
nickthegreek··on The United States and Israel have launched a major attack on Iran
I feel like maybe you have no idea how that Maduro takedown happened. That is not possible here.
nickthegreek··on The United States and Israel have launched a major attack on Iran
From a man who campaigned on No New Wars.
nickthegreek··on OpenAI – How to delete your account
Sir, they executed an American in the streets just a few weeks ago.

The supreme court just said our govt illegally took money from its citizens via tariffs. they aren’t concerned with giving it back.

We just bombed Iran without a single discussion in Congress.

We are killing unknown individuals in boats in the ocean without trials.

no one else at the time had chosen to be in the bed with the US military at the level anthropic was.

nickthegreek··on Statement on the comments from Secretary of War Pete Hegseth
The other companies have signed the waiver, however they aren’t being used in classified systems currently. So that type of use is already extremely limited for them. Now once they enter into those contracts to be used in those systems without these protections, I will cancel my subs to them and switch to Anthropic. xAi entered into that contract last week. Altman is now publicly siding with anthropic, so he better stand on that position with openai as they are currently negotiating for use in those system.

nickthegreek··on Tech companies shouldn't be bullied into doing surveillance
OpenAI and Google have not signed contracts to work in Classified systems. The points are moot without that. If and when they do, it is important that the public know. It was just Anthropic that was cleared to be used in classified systems. xAi signed that contract this week though I believe.
nickthegreek··on Burger King will use AI to check if employees say 'please' and 'thank you'
To your first point, have you worked counter or kitchen at a fast food restaurant? Choosing to attack the other person instead of clearly answering the question that you decided to highlight surely says alot about you too.
nickthegreek··on Will vibe coding end like the maker movement?
Plenty of people fall in both camps of DIY and vibe coding. Just last week I used codex to write me so great scad file so that I now have a token generator for my multi color 3d printer. Vibe Coding can allow makers to go further quicker.
nickthegreek··on Ask HN: Share your productive usage of OpenClaw
This can be done more affordably through Home Assistant using Hassarr.

nickthegreek··on Hegseth gives Anthropic until Friday to back down on AI safeguards
Anthropic was the only one that was cleared for use in classified systems though. So it doesnt really seem to matter much if it wasnt being used in those types of systems? xAi has now reached a deal though to be used in these circumstances and has signed the paper.
nickthegreek··on Blue light filters don't work – controlling total luminance is a better bet
The placebo effect is a real, measurable mind-body response where belief & expectation can change your symptoms or how you feel. However, it does not directly alter external reality. Manifesting claims your thoughts or intentions can cause _outside events_ to happen, which has zero evidence to support it.

i recommend a bedjet. got it for the wife and it’s rough to sleep without it now.

nickthegreek··on Show HN: Glitchy camera – a circuit-bent camera simulator in the browser
I just had gpt do a deep research on how to get started with physical circuit bending old digital cameras last night after seeing some fun tiktoks. Anyone know of any quick start resources/kits?

inspiration that I had me digging into this stuff: https://www.tiktok.com/@0xa.mp4

Ya but there is a wide gulf between maybe “useful” and “steal your data/mess up your life”. Calling it ‘OpenClown’ hurts zero people and effectively raises people’s guardrails. Many people consider LSD ‘neat’, that doesn’t mean that others are wrong to point out dangers.
nickthegreek··on Discord distances from age verification firm after ties to Peter Thiel surface
I imagine you are not done listening to them yet as the total over 8 hrs. But my research is showing that OPs are largely correct. Theil gave several talks to his church where he did in fact say these things.

In your post you state you are ‘not sure’, but also that that the poster is ‘wrong’.

> My thesis is that in the 17th, 18th century, the antichrist would have been a Dr Strangelove, a scientist who did all this sort of evil crazy science. In the 21st century, the antichrist is a luddite who wants to stop all science. It’s someone like Greta or Eliezer.

Sure, he eventually goes on to say stuff like..

> One of the ways these things always get reported is, I denounce Greta as an antichrist. And I want to be very clear: Greta is, I mean she’s maybe sort of a type or a shadow of an antichrist of a sort that would be tempting. But I don’t want to flatter her too much. So with Greta, you shouldn’t take her as the antichrist for sure. With AOC, you can choose whether or not you want to believe this disclaimer that I just gave

But I don’t think this is the win that you might think it is. The dude is a loon.

nickthegreek··on Ring cancels its partnership with Flock Safety after surveillance backlash
aqara g410 can be setup so that it uploads to your private iCloud and is viewable within Apple Home. I found it to be the most polished setup that is also light work and alleviates some of the concern. Quality is great as well. But for a on prem setup, frigate and armcrest seems to get alot of love.
nickthegreek··on Gemini 3 Deep Think
I routinely check out the pelicans you post and I do agree, this is the best yet. It seemed to me that the wings/arms were such a big hangup for these generators.
nickthegreek··on How Did the FBI Get Nancy Guthrie's Nest Doorbell Footage?
free tier saves 3 hrs of event history, then deletes. so it appears that this request came in later than limited ‘save’ window offered on the free tier.

nickthegreek··on How Did the FBI Get Nancy Guthrie's Nest Doorbell Footage?
I thought they just give you reduced storage on the free tier? If so, then its obvious that it is still uploading motion related events.
