nickthegreek··on Intel Announces Arc Pro B70 and Arc Pro B65 GPUs
Both have 32gb vram. Could be a pretty compelling choice.
nickthegreek··on Woman who never stopped updating her lost dog's chip reunites with him after 11y
Had to convince a company we had an Alpaca farm and needed a few tags to test with our livestock. They sent me a few EM4104s.

21 years in my right hand. Sadly, they weren't writable back then, so it is just a static number.
nickthegreek··on OpenClaw is a security nightmare dressed up as a daydream
The investment for me was an extra $10/month to mess around with some fun cutting edge stuff. This is interesting software tech that I mess with as a hobby. My ROI is understanding, exploring and entertainment. But it’s also doing some monitoring and logging for me on some various stuff that I wanted to keep an eye on with my network and actually proving some real value to my life. It’s genuinely exciting to mess with if you have the time.

$10/month minimax using m2.7 and openai-codex oauth $20/month will allow you to mess around with this stuff for negligible cost.

It doesn’t have to have a credit card number to be useful. I don’t need it to purchase anything. Mine has its own icloud and google account. I can share calendars to it. You can donate same with email or shared lists. There are ways of using openclaw without yolo’ing all your secrets.

Giving plausible examples could further your case. But at some point you have got to realize that other people have actually thought about these things are are willing to do this.

Imagine going up to everyone riding a motorcycle and telling them about the inherent dangers of their activity and to stop. It is obvious that the OP understands risk, has taken several strong steps to harden their system and isn’t worried about the school calendar getting hacked making an event that they would get notified about and that destroying their community somehow. I don’t even understand openclaws place. The exact same events would unfold without the ai in there at all.

nickthegreek··on Remove your ring camera with a claw hammer
It tells me when packages are on the porch. This is the main value add for me.

I’ve been debating adding a camera pointed a bit more outward, as there at least 5 2 car accidents a year at the intersection outside my house of a 1 way road without a stop sign and a 2 way narrow city road with a stop sign. At least 1 of these accidents every 2 years ends up hitting my neighbors house.

nickthegreek··on Claude Tips for 3D Work
Love to see this stuff. I recently used codex to produce me a scad file for generating multicolored tokens for 3d printing. I had alot of more fun than grinding it out in the software, and if I ever want to make more for other board games, most of the word is already done.

100% agree. I dont want a Yes, Got it, Will do or even worse, I have turned on the Bedroom Light. I want soft success ding or a low failure boop.
nickthegreek··on My Journey to a reliable and enjoyable locally hosted voice assistant (2025)
My lights adjust their brightness and color spectrum automatically throughout the day while also understanding the time of year and sun position. This alone is next level. All are voice/tablet controlled. When I start a movie at night, lights will adjust automatically in my open floor plan first level. All of this operates without me ever having to give any mental energy beyond the initial setup.

This is not just flip a switch territory.

nickthegreek··on My Journey to a reliable and enjoyable locally hosted voice assistant (2025)
I prefer voice strongly. I don't want to stop what i am doing, find a device, open the app, wait for it refresh, navigate and click to get Milk on a list. Sure you can bring this down a few steps, but all of which still require me to move, have a hand and eye free.

OP made no mention of not understanding cost relation to intelligence. In fact, they specifically call out the lack of value.

nickthegreek··on The View from RSS
Current setup is freshrss running in a proxmox lxc on prem + tailscale. Big fan of the lire iOS app for interacting on mobile and use the freshrss webui on desktop. killthenewsletter helps patch in some email stuff too. RSS and NNTP are 2 technologies that have been with me for decades and you are gonna have to pry them from me.
