I think they are referring to the Apple Watch 12 & 4 ultra feature announced yesterday. But I will note they are not on by default and has several configuration options.

You and I must have very different conversations with people that we trust to respond in such a way.
nickthegreek··on Anthropic Is Building a Predictive Surveillance System to Monitor Activists
Not the person you are replying to, but I wanted to dig into this. I do not see any evidence that he celebrated this. He did decide to try and blame it Waltz though..

Why do i care about google’s opinion on the 7% desktop users. I just care that I have firefox. I continue to say that having 7% on desktop is an incredible large userbase when you convert it to people and not a percentage. Ive only pushed back on the minimizing all these people to ‘a rounding error’.
nickthegreek··on Saving money on Google Photos with Immich: Your own personal photo storage
Ya, my setup still includes the google drive expense as that’s my offsite.

Good news, my coding agents can access my proxmox and HA and immich and make having a homelab easier than it ever has been. I actually just used codex to help me find dupes across multiple user libraries in immich and quarantine them. In immich, I can only dedupe across a single user library. I used codex to find grid based images that I needed to convert into animated images from back in my iphone 4 days. It located the images, wrote software to convert to webp and handled it.

Codex reviewed my immich setup and recommended I change things the clip model, came up with a better backup strat and found holes in my system.

My codex will ADB into my NVIDIA Shield and proxmox and setup accounts, install packages, create Home Assistant integrations to tie it all together. As a hobbyist, these are things that I would never even think about taking on.

I bought a hdmi-cec controller for my projector last week. Firmware didnt work with the PX3-pro, but it was tied to my ESPHome. Codex diagnosed the issue, rewrote, tested and uploaded the firmware OTA. All done from my phone while I was waiting in line at a store.

But its all under 1 roof and can be taken from you in a fire or be stolen?
nickthegreek··on Firefox's AI Switch Is Off. Telemetry Isn't
> There shouldn't be any telemetry in free software, end of.

Don't install it if you dont want it, that is where you choice lies. Telemetry inclusion is up to the author. Good ones will make it opt-in if it is truly necessary to include.

> Ladybird has shown that you don't need a huge team to build a browser from scratch

Ladybird has done no such thing.

nickthegreek··on ChatGPT Work Tool and Skill Reference
Understood. I do appreciate the willingness to engage.
nickthegreek··on Hang on to Your Firefox
Well I would say that the firefox userbase is 3%+ across all platforms (over 7% on desktop) and that is larger than a rounding error.
nickthegreek··on Hang on to Your Firefox
Here at HN, we regularly expect evidence of lesser known claims. It’s actually a pretty cool way to form understanding based on reality. My original post was openminded, and stated that I tried to learn more about what your post on my own to not waste your time. When I could bot find discourse or articles about your statement, I asked for a source. That is a natural and valid thing to have happen. If there is basically no validation of your strong statements, maybe think about what you post and what it’s adding to the discourse.

The userbase of Firefox existing is obvious signs of caring. You really got to go out of your way to not use chromium. The userbase grows when people help others understand these issues, or ideally just install firefox for their non techie friends and set them up with ubo. be the change you want to see.
nickthegreek··on Hang on to Your Firefox
That turned off a fraction of a fraction of users. And I believe i was largely misunderstood. There are also Firefox forks of somehow that was a bridge too far. I don’t understand how the answer would be to jump to chrome as if they have a better ToS.
nickthegreek··on Hang on to Your Firefox
It’s true up until those other browsers are released and stable.
nickthegreek··on Hang on to Your Firefox
Firefox have forks like Zen which allow you to have the best of both worlds.
nickthegreek··on Hang on to Your Firefox
the difference is you are being tracked but not seeing the ads. that’s what you lost when they sunset mv2 for mv3.
nickthegreek··on Hang on to Your Firefox
that’s a bold statement, and my googling has not returned results that verify this claim. can you provide any context?

The fact that Anthropic shares so many of those values or pays lip service to their ‘morales’. The shades of gray of these 2 companies are so close, I can hardly tell them apart.

Anthropic kept changing their terms of service (openclaw agent use) while only using X.com to make/counter their own announcements, doesn’t offer Fable with ZDR, use quota and refuse to give you the work due to guardrails triggering, had some crazy unreliable service periods, continually change what’s offered in their base paid plan, had worse quotas.

Anthropic models ALSO hacked other companies. Antrhopic model was used in the decision making that led to the killing of those iraqi school girls. Talk about blood on their hands.

Anthropic is anti open weights models. OpenAI has at least released several.

If i’m gonna make a devils bargain, I’m gonna pick the one that is more reliable and a better deal.

I argue that you see daylight between them where there is none.

nickthegreek··on Thanks to Lake Ontario, MapQuest is popular all over again
This is head in the sand behavior and I question your comment being put here in good faith.

These actions are not commonplace. This is not how you run a country. The long held names of bodies of water with international neighbors are now suddenly up for changes on a whim. No discussion, no convincing, just I say so.

nickthegreek··on ChatGPT Work Tool and Skill Reference
None of them live up to my ideals. But I would use them in the order of OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Chinese Models, NVIDIA/Mistral, I will not use grok.

Once I can run the Chinese models locally at 60t/sec, they will move to my #1.

I am a bit confused on how Anthropics relationship with Palantir doesn't disqualify them for you.

it’s a firefox fork. ‘most hackers’ would research it no matter what was typed on a msg board prior to installing. the first step is knowingg about it. personally, im a big fan and daily drive it on my personal systems. but I do find their tab groups implementations to be a bit subpar.
