newfangle··on Data as a Property Right
Unfortunately I think your view is going to become the prevailing view and the internet is going to become cable 2.0. People are just obsessed with finding corners to round.

For some reason people think comparing loss of privacy when voluntarily visiting a website to deaths caused by car accidents isnt intellectually dishonest.

Communists killing and imprisoning other communists has happened since the ideology was first conceived so you will need a better argument than that to say they are not communist.

I really dont understand why so many people feel the need to post comments online distinguishing that China is not communist.

Its a disgusting authoritarian regime just like every other self proclaimed communist country in history.

newfangle··on A Cheating Scandal Rocking the Poker World
Nobody actually reads people in poker. What the actually do is categorize different players into different player types based om hiw they play and then they exploit their suboptimal strategy. Sometimes someone flinches or looks nervous but generally that actually means they have a really good hand not a bad one.
newfangle··on A Cheating Scandal Rocking the Poker World
Unless you are playing at the absolute elite levels you do not need to perfectly calculate your own range or another persons. But yes, the better you get the more complicated the math is.
newfangle··on A Cheating Scandal Rocking the Poker World
Clearly you have not done your due diligence if you dont even know the most famous hand. It was a 3 way all in and he called with 54o and both players happened to have AK

Im not wasting any more time talking to you and i stand by my previous statement that you dont know what you are talking about.

newfangle··on A Cheating Scandal Rocking the Poker World
For people who are not familiar with poker and dont understand why people are 100% sure this person is cheating, allow me to explain.

This player continously makes decisions playing poker that are theoretically unsound and manages to always win the maximum and lose the minimum amount of money possible.

So not only are his plays theoretically unsound, there is no observable underlying strategy to his play. He plays conservatively when the player he is playing has the best hand and he plays aggressively when the player he is playing has a worse hand.

The only thing consistent about his play is that his decision is the perfect play he could make if he had access to the other players cards.

This kind of play is possible in a very small sample but this person has been playing this way consistently for a year now.

Yes I play 10/20 live multiple times a week. Explain to me how a winning reg would ever consider calling a 5 bet all in with 54o and then fold KK pre to a 4 bet?
newfangle··on A Cheating Scandal Rocking the Poker World
You have no idea what you are talking about.
newfangle··on A Cheating Scandal Rocking the Poker World
This evidence is not circumstantial. This person is cheating and there is no question.

>You can't offer your services in exchange for e.g. my body parts. Why are we willing to ban that but not our data?

Is this a real question?

newfangle··on Day Trading for a Living?
As a poker player this is exactly what i was thinking. Poker is probably more winnable though because you arent competing against super computers with ai built by a team of highly paid mathematicians.
newfangle··on No limit: AI poker bot is first to beat professionals at multiplayer game
Donk bets exist in the meta, ie when the turn is extremely good for your range but is horrible for your opponent. ( if you have a fd on the flop and it hits on the turn you can overbet the pot on the turn with your bluffs and foushes then just go all in on the river) if they have top pair its pretty hard to play against that
newfangle··on No limit: AI poker bot is first to beat professionals at multiplayer game
The game actually becomes simpler when you have less blinds to the point where if you have 15 blinds or fewer you actually just follow a chart and go all in or fold preflop

newfangle··on Exercises to craft an employer brand that makes engineers want to work for you
And im sure that when they work 30 hours they are cutting 30 minutes off of their lunch break and spending less time in the bathroom and on reddit.
newfangle··on Exercises to craft an employer brand that makes engineers want to work for you
No not under market rate, if your goal is to work 30 to 35 hours a week under market rate all power to you but if you expect to be getting paid $400k total compensation or more you better be giving me at least 40 hours of work that i expect from a senior engineer. 5 to 10 hours is a full day of work.
newfangle··on Exercises to craft an employer brand that makes engineers want to work for you
You go from 30 to 35 straight to 60 when im thinking 40 hours a week. I dont know about you all but if i work 5 to 10 fewer hours a week i would get a lot less done
newfangle··on The boring front-end developer (2014)
That the default recommendation is react not angular
newfangle··on Exercises to craft an employer brand that makes engineers want to work for you
Im sorry but 30 to 35 hours a week, especially at a startup is just not tenable for any company except a small lifestyle company

Also i have to laugh at the fact that you "just" want to work at a company thats honest and then you throw in the 30 to 35 hour work week requirement

newfangle··on The boring front-end developer (2014)
I am not suggesting that vue is in more widespread use than angular. People are reading too much into my comment.
newfangle··on The boring front-end developer (2014)
Does anyone that has been developing fe code in the past few years felt that the pace of change has been overwhelming? I think weve finally settled down on a few tried and true frameworks for frontend development.
newfangle··on The boring front-end developer (2014)
We have 3. React, angular, and vue. Angular isnt even recommended anymore so its really only react and vue.

I dont think there has been much change in the javascript world in the last few years that hasnt been strictly beneficial. The biggest paradigm shift is probably the widespread use of typing on the frontend with typescript and flow.
