nerder92··on I just had over a thousand Euros stolen and Revolut is siding with the thief
I thought it was not necessary since this story gets HN homepage not so long ago.

The initial tweet: https://twitter.com/phillipcaudell/status/110108122935141580...

The HN discussione about it: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=19280131

Note: I don't work for a competitors, but i hate this kind of toxic company cultures since i've been working in similar environments in the past, and this for me is already a strong "ethical" motivator to not use such product.

nerder92··on I just had over a thousand Euros stolen and Revolut is siding with the thief
From the way in which the CEO of this company treats he's own employees you can imagine how he will treat he's clients. This company is just toxic, there are other better options that solves the same problem, N26, Monzo etc check them out
nerder92··on Ask HN: What are the signs that you have a great manager?
I totally see myself in this, finally after 8yr in the industry i had the chance to work with a very good Tech lead (manager) and it's a game changer.
nerder92··on Economists Are Obsessed with Job Creation – How About Less Work? (2017)
"Band hunter-gatherers, who, as I said, lived a life of play, are famous among anthropologists for their eagerness to share and help one another"

I can find a lot of similarities with the IT industry, or at least in the early days. This is what other industries misses a lot.

"Work less. Play more" I totally buy this slogan, our life is about us and our loved ones at the end.

nerder92··on China is blocking all language editions of Wikipedia
This direct attack on culture and knowledge is just both sad and scary.

Thank you OONI and ellais for this report tho. Keep up the good work!

nerder92··on Flutter desktop shells
I found flutter very fascinating. I recently start a small side-project with a friend and it's truly fun. Dart is pretty smooth most of the time (except the TypeSystem which is a bit weird, IMHO). This idea of `Flutter all the things` anyway is pretty ambitious even for Google, but for some specific use case might be a good solution especially for kickstarting prototypes on different platforms in order to validate the market as fast as possible. This are my 2 cents.
nerder92··on Sleep quality and stress level matter more than languages or practices
This is gold.
nerder92··on San Francisco’s Slow-Motion Suicide
I'm planning to move to SF form Barcelona next year and this kind of article always makes me doubt a lot about my decision. Especially because of the fact that seems like that there's nothing less then tech to talk about in SF, and i'm seriously worried about how this can affect not only my creativity but also my relationship (my girlfriend is not tech). Can you advise me any other place (in the US) to move for a while where i can improve my network, discuss interesting ideas that have a similar wheather condition to Spain??? I'm starting to consider new options.

Thank you!

nerder92··on Kickstarter’s staff is unionizing
As a EU citizen, it always surprise me how the popular retoric about unions is to associate it with lazyness. I think is just undermining of what union actually really are.

I personally found this as a first step toward a perception shift about tech from which we can all benefit.

Unions for instance can help fight this constant non extra paid "after-hours" working culture that force you to do all-nighters and all this kind of crazy shits just because the industry is seen as a bunch of nerds that are that passionate about programming that stay long hours just for the sake of love/passion for the job itself.

nerder92··on Kickstarter’s staff is unionizing
You are basically describing ThoughtWorks.
nerder92··on The human costs of Black Friday, explained by a former Amazon warehouse manager
> I just want to know what Amazon would have to do to become moral

1. 8h/day max

2. double pay extra work and limit the maximum amount to +3h

3. not 'monitoring' bathroom breaks

4. not fire people on the spot, give them warnings and help them improve

5. don't use metrics as a weapon agains them, instead build programs that help improvements

6. let workers to pack seated as well (to not stay 8h on their feet)

7. hire more occasional workers for very peak days (ie: BF, CM)

8. Not fire for sick leaves nor holidays leaves

9. Not fire for taking holidays during BF

This are the first 9 thing that i can come out with.

It's interesting for me anyway how many of the things related to Unions and workers rights the are at the center of the debate in the US now, are either illegal or totally unacceptable in EU.

nerder92··on Blood money
I'll never ever understand the point of the "yes, but this" way of criticise on something.

It always looks to me like when you are arguing with somebody that is thinking exactly like you, but you don't get each other because wording. In which way the fact that people are raising their voices as a consequence of the brutal murder of this journalist make Yemen people less important? And most of all is this really matters?

I think this situation is slightly different and worth of notice, because is not just a murder, is a way for UAE to show off power and give a notice to all the other dissidents that they can reach them and get along without any consequences. This is a threat.
