neokya··on M7.9 Earthquake in Nepal
I created list of reliable organizations which are working on it and accepting donations https://github.com/chhantyal/PrayForNepal
neokya··on Python 2, Python 3, Debian and Porting
We know about that. Many of the packages are overriden if there are drop-in replacements like PIL -> Pillow.

In above list, these are not drop-in replacements and it will require lots of changes in your application code if you want to use them. One idea is to show alternative packages https://github.com/chhantyal/py3readiness/issues/9

OP and maintainer of the above site here.

Thanks for noticing py3readiness.org

Yes, it's up-to-date and takes advantage of https://github.com/brettcannon/caniusepython3

Also, you can help to keep it updated https://github.com/chhantyal/py3readiness

neokya··on Django 1.8 released
Yea, this. I am starting all new projects with Postgres because of this official support. Kudos to the team :)
neokya··on Firefox 36.0 released
Recently switched back to Firefox. Their search engine selection option is so easy and excellent.

On Chrome, non-technical people won't be able to change default search engine.

Thanks Mozilla.

neokya··on High Speed Trains are Killing the European Railway Network
I recently used Meinfernbus to travel from Frankfurt Airport (yes airport) to Hannover. It's comfortable and very cheap, 15 euro.
neokya··on BBC-News/Imager.js
that's strange indeed. Not to mention the npm 'imager' is widely used in production.
neokya··on Ben Noordhuis's Departure
What a disaster. This company @joyent totally fucked up the whole situation.
neokya··on Why You Should Never Use MongoDB
Though title sounds like a link bait, this is actually eye opening article for database layman like me. Very clearly written.

Now, what is MongoDB fit for? Most of the web applications are what author gives example, complex and having inter-relationships. Can someone light up?

neokya··on SQL Fiddle
The site is up again :)
neokya··on SQL Fiddle
Sorry about that. I didn't expect that would happen.

Will definitely do that next time. I found it really cool and thought of just posting it on HN.

Edit: Pinged @sqlfiddle on twitter. I hope maintainer did notice it.

neokya··on JetBrains releases open-source Python IDE
Just tried Professional one on OSX, CPU goes above 100%.

Anyone having same issue?

neokya··on Django: username is case-sensitive
While default industry practice is to have case insensitive username (which is obvious), django's bug is still there, not fixed for last seven years.
neokya··on Python-Based Tools for the Space Science Community

neokya··on Python-Based Tools for the Space Science Community
Can anyone clarify what does this means: 'License Agreement based on Python Software Foundation License'?
neokya··on GeoJSON rendering improvements
Your file extension is geo.json. Rename to .geojson?
neokya··on Two Scoops of Django final edition released
We purchased this in initial release. This is good book, fills the gap between developers and documentation.
neokya··on So You Want to be a Programmer
It's been about 10 months since I started coding, I have to say it is totally enlightening skill. As a normal user, I never knew the way computers work. When once my PC was attacked by virus, I thought it was actual biological virus. Yeah, I mean I was slave back then.

Now I am trying to be master. Is there anything wrong? PS. Car and Computers are different IMO.

neokya··on Vimeo, DailyMotion, Pastebin, Xmarks & Major Torrent Sites Blocked in India
Damn. It is blocked in certain ISP only. Everything is working on my network
neokya··on Please Don't Become Anything, Especially Not A Programmer
Exactly. I know some programming by now. I am planning to buy a guitar to play with 'Hotel California'
neokya··on Please Don't Become Anything, Especially Not A Programmer
Exactly. And Jeff shouldn't worry about it. Programming is hard job, and only passionate will excel in the long run. Why the hell should we scare people by posting page long article?
neokya··on Please Don't Become Anything, Especially Not A Programmer
I learned to code from your book Zed. I was disappointed by Jeff's article (Who is usually a nice man).

You wrote this post at a right time with right points. My appreciation is triple-folded. Take a bow, Zed.

neokya··on Please don't learn to code
Pretty uninteresting topic from Jeff. For other than professional programmers, it is like guitar.

While professional guitarists take years to master it, anyone can get an acoustic guitar and play 'Hotel California' as hobby.

What the hell is wrong here?
