I've got 150 contacts on whatsapp, over 200 on my phone. I am on several organised groups on whatsapp with 150+ members who use it for event management.
They are never going to signal. There isn't the momentum.
There’s a lot of nice looking crap out there.
Needs to be a large billboard marketing campaign which is “zuck eats children and owns WhatsApp” or something. Then you might get 5% of people move over.
My immediate family are on it and two friends. That represents a year of trying.
One political change put millions of people and businesses at risk. Minimising this in future is not putting everything on someone else's computers.
What happened to organisations being the sovereign entities not national tied clouds?
Social media big tech is where everyone communicates which is a much bigger and much more damaging problem. Literally some people only communicate via one vendor with no interoperability.
Kubernetes 2.0: the search for more complexity by trying to get rid of it.
It’s the vape of IT.
As for this thing in the article, urgh. Old cameras were designed badly and had poor ergonomics because of mechanical constraints. Why do we keep copying shitty old designs?!?
And I don't want anything to do with windows 11, even LTSC at the moment.
Seems sensible to take a small convenience hit now to mitigate those risks.
The electrical engineer suggests it's not measurable unless you apply current and also asks "when" after the current is applied referring to the distributed inductive and capacitive element and the speed of field propagation. The mathematician goes to a bar and has a stiff drink after hearing that.
I'm not sure the GPU market won't collapse with it either. Possibly taking out a chunk of TSMC in the process, which will then have knock on effects across the whole industry.
My objection to the whole thing is the AI hype bros, which is really the funding solicitation facade over everything rather the truth, only has one outcome and that is that it cannot be sustained. At that point all investor confidence disappears, the money is gone and everyone loses access to the tools that they suddenly built all their dependencies on because it's all proprietary service model based.
Which is why I am not poking it with a 10 foot long shitty stick any time in the near future. The failure mode scares me, not the technology which arguably does have some use in non-idiot hands.
Just got rid of a 9 year old 6s a few months ago that still worked fine!
We have shitty chatbots which confidently spew garbage and a new button on laptops no one wanted.
And the customers are worried that the technology is coming for their jobs, their income and their lives.
No one has reached the bar.
