I'm moving very slowly into AI coding. I'm not comfortable enough to let Claude do anything big. What I do is this: I set out general architecture, create function stubs and add comments on how to implement things. Then I let Claude do 10 minutes of work and I check everything and refactor some of it. It saves me on boring implantation stuff (like, is this an array, move an index here or there, check for whatever exists or not, put it in the db)
I've been working from a ARM windows laptop for a year now and have gotten so used to a full day of battery, I don't even bring a charger anymore. I would love a framwork or Starfigher laptop, but I don't feel like the batterylife on intel and amd is there yet?
Yes, I write a lot of things in notepad++ actually, every single character. It really feels like a craft and gives me the same joy as others experience with woodworking or gardening.
I had to code something on a plane today. It used to be that you couldn't get you packages or check stackoverflow. But now, I'm useless. My mind has turned to pudding. I cannot remember basic boilerplate stuff. Crazy how fast that goes.
Gives me mongodb vibes. This whole Ai coding thing too. On one side, religious loud following, on the other side the nay sayers. We'll probably end up in the middle.
What are we all using as assistants? I tend to copy-paste my code into Gemini. I tried some VS-code assistants, but I can't get them to do the thing I want (like look at selected text or only do small things)...
I've never heard of this case or person. I went in interested in his story. But the information and writing makes it seem like he was reluctant to share anything at all. Why even start a website?
It's helping me find things, understand things and do things. I'm sure some of those startups will figure something out that makes sense. And eat the rest.
Google became Expert exchange become stackoverflow became Google again became Chatgpt became Google again. Every time, so much more faster to get your boilerplate.
I feel like with all the silly things humans do, every remotely feasible physics experiment should be top priority on getting funding and attention. Isn't finding out how the universe works, by far, the only thing that matters?
Both way can work fine, enough great examples out there. The real problem is, imho, we shouldn't need a (graphical) UI at all. That's where all this discussion comes from. When the whole "frontend" disappears in a year or 10, it will make a lot more sense.
How much of this is for a noob like me that just uses vscode? I hardly ever see the git command line, and when I do see it, its trouble beyond what anybody can fix...
Anybody here able to tell me what it means? Where do neutrinos get their energy from? Is there a limit? Will this make my phone smaller? My microwave quicker?
