As someone who was a little misguided in my early programming career, I think what attracted to me about the FP community is the general enthusiasm that they have in their craft. I don't think it's about the axis on whether if someone is "smart" or not, but if the problem space is interesting enough to devote a whole career to.

I really wish there were ways to fund more investigative efforts of journalism. I support my local newspaper but would be nice to have some sort of system of campaigns to support reasoned inquiry into those that have power beyond platitudes such as "ads bad".

I have been pretty unlucky in my career where my prior 1:1s were with managers who viewed the responsibility as a chore rather than a way to provide constructive feedback. As a result, my prior 1:1s were usually always cancelled or were a status update. Now my 1:1s are a little bit like what the OP has here.

Really interesting to see the mixed sentiment kinda reflect my attitude as well.

Used to work at Citrix for three years as a Product Manager. I empathize with most everyone's experience that they shared- at the tail end of my tenure, the company prioritized the sales teams over the engineering staff and unfortunately it showed within the product.

I think when set up properly, Virtual Apps and Desktops is killer for having good access to desktops and at the moment is a good extension of Azure Virtual Desktop. However, it did feel like we were running the product with a skeleton crew. As a result, documentation fell by the wayside along with other matters. I guess complete PE takeover of this sort of company is inevitable.
