navyad··on Ask HN: How do you explain tech debt (to non-techs)?
"we cannot release until this chunk of code getting refactored "
navyad··on Ask HN: What are some products that you use that give you joy?
vim :)
navyad··on Ask HN: How do I get my PM to stop using Excel to track bugs?
I have been to similar situation, when a manager asked tech team to prepare a excel sheet to maintain github commits... Me: "what, WTF. commits can be tracked on github itself, and we do not need to maintain excel sheet"

Which did not go well with guys who proposed it

Basically get confidence of team members before opposing or otherwise.

navyad··on Ask HN: What are some example of low tech improving your life?
"sitting quietly in one place for a while". One of the hard thing to do in today's times. I am also planning to do same every morning :)
navyad··on Ask HN: Advice for a new and inexperienced tech lead?
I would like to disagree here. Got into a team which has working prototype but not a single word on document. Which makes this hard to follow up with prototype.

Being tech lead in current position, I am stressing "document-first" approch it is either for client or tech team.

navyad··on Daytripper
There always comes times when there is not much happening development is going on. In my earlier company due to the same situation, I started contributing an open-source project and build side projects.
navyad··on Daytripper
that one is a good to read.
navyad··on Ask HN: What slows you down most when starting new programming projects?
Although I like writing tests but following Test-Driven Development slows down the development of side-projects.

https://codeureka.blogspot.com/ mostly python related stuff and other stuff with which i'm tinkering.
navyad··on The art of interrupting software engineers
Great point. The tools are there to make life easy for developers. Even after using these tools, PM need to do checkins with team then I think something is very wrong in terms how PM is handling the team.

navyad··on Ask HN: Ghosted After Job Offer
I would suggest to forget about it and continue your search.
navyad··on Good Developers Don't Trust Employeers
Very true with the company having shitty managers living in old ages, imposes the brainless day to day activities like updating number excel sheets instead of on focusing on actual work. ++ for office politics.
navyad··on Ask HN: What motivates you to do your best work, and work hardest?
hustle free environment, happy faces around, sense of belonging to the company.
navyad··on Ask HN: Engineers over 40: What is your career path?
Startred in 30s, worked couple of startups with nice people. Also seen shit that happens at mid-level companies where code takes the backseat and its all about getting more customers and manager is only care about JIRA tickets. Stop going after companies who took whiteboard interviews. Looking for engaging and frendliy environment without bullshit.
