nautical··on Karatsuba Algorithm
If someone is interested in things like, they should also look up "Vedic Mathematics" (Vedic = Something from the Vedas), its Maths formulas for faster multiplication / addition / square roots etc.
nautical··on India’s Messy Electric Vehicle Revolution
I have been living in Delhi city since a LONG time and I have seen these cropping up mainly on metro routes. There is a major shift towards using public transport in general. Many people having cars have started to prefer e-rickshaw and metro combination for daily travel.

It is very cheap ( about 1 dollar e-rickshaw and metro combined - both ways - basically about 30 dollar your monthly travel is sorted ).

It is cleaner ( Being public mode, there are benefits )

It has become one of the fastest way to travel.

nautical··on Show HN: Calenvy.com – YC alum launches new scheduling app powered by email
Some Critique :

1) The twitter account seems suspended and github link is also dead at the end.

2) I had to scroll and read the fine print in second block to understand what this is about.

3) No privacy policy or any information about the founders

nautical··on Show HN: TimeTurtle, a time tracking app with a focus on interactivity (beta)
I dont get it clearly ..

nautical··on Show HN: I made a service to order custom SVG illustrations for your website

nautical··on Gmail spam-filters Stripe security messages as well
One of the reasons I think spammers have been so successful has to do with companies only.

Because companies send a LOT of spam emails / promotions etc that they have to come up with alternate domains to send emails. On customer side its very difficult to know the truth.

nautical··on Show HN: The future of dating → no swipes, no online chats
I can see this working for a section of society but not all, a lot many people are working class and will find it difficult to use this compared to swiping, chatting, building up some repo and finally meeting .
nautical··on Facebook launches searchable transparency library of all active ads
https://www.facebook.com/ads/library/report/?source=archive-... Its interesting to see how much political parties are spending on Facebook Ads.
nautical··on Culture Industry
The inherent danger of the culture industry is the cultivation of false psychological needs that can only be met and satisfied by the products of capitalism

nautical··on Show HN: Remote Presence – faking your presence on Slack
The purpose of honeypot is to look like a honeypot
nautical··on Show HN: Remote Presence – faking your presence on Slack
In short currently its looking like someone anon asking my slack username and password, there is no trust factor.
nautical··on Show HN: Remote Presence – faking your presence on Slack
My issues with this :

1) No privacy policy

2) No information about developer

3) Asking my slack username and password

4) HN Account 10 days old.

nautical··on How to DIY a Product Launch Video with No Experience, and for Free
I think videos help, Atleast as a user, if I see a video I tend to click on it first (even before reading complete content)
nautical··on Writing copy for landing pages
Stripe landing page says " The new standard in online payments" ... out of genuine curiosity how is it fitting "Focus copy on them." ?
nautical··on Stop Learning Frameworks
I agree to this .. I have around 8 years of experience now and have built teams and products .. In one application I was sent a list of 4/5 frameworks and actually have to reply with yes/no in front of each .. based on which they will 'decide' further ..
