namecheapTA··on Carmakers feel chip crisis easing
People spend about $20k-80k more than they need to just so they can drive something they like. We could all be driving Honda Civics, but the world is full of BMW 3series. If you're blowing an extra $20k to have a car you like, what's another $20k on some fuel if that's what you like.
namecheapTA··on Carmakers feel chip crisis easing
If this is the base, it'll just be a form of inflation and get lost pretty soon. Currently 1 hr of fast food labor buys you 2 gallons of gas. That's probably pretty close to what it was in 1996 also.
namecheapTA··on Google cancelled a talk on caste bias
You weren't able to find if most murderers vote Democrat or Republican? Doesn't that make you doubt if you're able to find anything at all? Should you even be talking about any of this if you can't even do that?
namecheapTA··on Google cancelled a talk on caste bias
Correct, the left is the one that does the violence. You can look at jails and murder stats for that if you like, but in general is pretty obvious who the very intolerant ones are and it's the left.
namecheapTA··on Google cancelled a talk on caste bias
Anecdotes about bad things that happen to some people aren't going to phase me and change my mind out about large scale systematic damage the left wants to do.

Regardless though, my point is that there are 'sides' and 'groups' and thinking poorly about the other side isn't going to go away when someone running for president of the United States calls people basically evil.

People on the right think that people on the left are naiive and foolish. People on the left think people on the right are evil. So if anything, the left is doing what this entire thread is about.

namecheapTA··on Google cancelled a talk on caste bias
The problem is I feel the same way about your side, and even worse really. You're trying to take away my guns while leaving it for people that can afford security. You're trying to talk to my kids about sensitive sexual issues at crazy young ages. You're trying to make it harder for my kids to get jobs or go to college because they were born a certain color. You're trying to make it harder to lock people away for major property crimes. You're trying to make it easier for undocumented people to come to the US instead of being selective like even Canada is. I could go on and on, but I think the things the left is doing is flat out dangerous to society, while what the right does is maybe mean spirited sometimes but for the best.
namecheapTA··on Google cancelled a talk on caste bias
Hillary Clinton called 25-50% of the country deliverables, and it was basically well accepted by the media and most on her side. I don't think labeling the other is going away any time soon.
namecheapTA··on Google cancelled a talk on caste bias
I was walking with an Indian coworker once, past another Indian.

After the guy passed, he mutters "remember, don't ever trust the dark ones"

namecheapTA··on Practical power beaming gets real
Burning wood might be even less efficient than burning gasoline. But if wood was free, that makes it pretty efficient per dollar.
namecheapTA··on Porn Actress Kitty Lixo Gets IG Account Unbanned by Having Sex W Meta Employees
Im a guy so I probably can't offer sex to get favors from tech companies, but I could offer cash to employees. Is that allowed?

New innovation, SupportBid! An auction where people bid on or buy now 15 minutes blocks of support help from tech companies. I bet there are countless people that would pay $300 for 15 minutes to get their accounts back.

namecheapTA··on Tell HN: Job interview canceled due to looming recession
What happens in times like this and people's issues with wage discrimination for example? Are there people left at the company still making $50 an hour for a similar role to someone new hired making $20? Do all these salaries get readjusted eventually?
namecheapTA··on I have resigned all my positions in ISO C++ in protest
No doubt people throw their own emotional arguments into things that have been researched with 1000x rigor compared to their internal hunches.. it doesn't mean it's right.

People's entire lives are derailed when they drink and get in a car and get caught for a DUI. The fact that we prosecute people, fine them amounts greater than some people's entire savings, throw them in jail, make them loose their jobs... For deciding to get into a car after 5 drinks. But if you decide to sleep with someone after 5 drinks, you were taken advantage of and that person should be prosecuted. In one case we give no sympathy for being drunk, and in the other we treat you like a child.

namecheapTA··on I have resigned all my positions in ISO C++ in protest
I have a video friends took of me, that I don't remember entire HOURS of before and after. In the video you can clearly see I am happy drunk but you couldn't get me to consent to things I didn't want IMO. Im not some confused lump ready to be taken advantage of, yet I lost all memory of that 4th of July BBQ.

Plus, beyond my anecdote, the guy above posted research. Do we not believe in science anymore?

namecheapTA··on Ask HN: What to do about ‘Good at programming Bad at Leetcode’
You should see the LeetStudying medstudents/residents do to make $200-350k. Compared to other ways of making it into upper tier of income groups, this has to be the easiest.
namecheapTA··on Twitter CEO fires two top executives, freezes hiring
I wasn't talking about car salesman that work in SF proper. Yes, 1 hour from there is basically still pretty expensive. But if you can work anywhere 30 minutes outside SF, and then live another 45 further, you own a home. And yes any decent car salesperson is making $100k. I made on average $250k but I was a bit better than top 1%, and I know a few that made more. I suppose you could say I only socialize with high performers. Sure every car dealer also has a few people that struggle to pay their apartment rent. The industry is setup for an good salesperson to support a family. If you can outperform average by 2x, which is possible if you're really on it, you can make 2x+ that amount. Same applies to mechanics that are good at their craft.
namecheapTA··on Twitter CEO fires two top executives, freezes hiring
I used to work in car sales in the bay area. Basically every car salesman and every mechanic at a franchise car dealership owns a home. Maybe they drive 30-75 minutes to work, but they are 25-35 and own a home in California. The older ones own a home within 15 minutes of their job.
namecheapTA··on Day trader army loses all the money it made in meme-stock era
I basically operate within small to medium size business as sales in California. Every business owner I know took/got so much PPP money they flat out feel guilty but at the same time all they did was take what was being offered. It's probably the most internally rage inducing thing I've ever heard of, but Im so used to faking agreement to keep the sales relationship alive I basically can block it out. Money is sales feels like fake money anyway so I can cope. But I think if any hard working people really found out what happened they'd almost go French revolution on government.
namecheapTA··on In Defence of the Single Page Application
I have a feeling this is more to do with developers being lazy than a problem with SPAs.

I wrote my own SaaS product a few years ago as a SPA, using php backend and basically jQuery front end. It runs on a namecheap shared hosting server for $5 a month. It loads faster than 95% of the internet because as I was learning from YouTube and stack overflow, my #1 goal was to be fast. So it was.

namecheapTA··on Dude, where's my fuel?
This isn't what fuel costs in Europe. It's what it is retailed for after taxes to the government.
namecheapTA··on Airbnb’s design to live and work anywhere
I don't want to control who comes into my neighborhood really. But I don't really want my residential neighborhood to turn into hotel alley. The city has specific zoned areas for that. How would you like if your neighbor started an aluminum can recycling center next door? A strip club? A nightclub?
namecheapTA··on Show HN: Radiopaper – Troll-resistant public conversations
That's a totally rational point about general coffee shop etiquette. But for an automotive website to have a comments section where only approved people can comment, and someone clearly posting well thought out details can't even get approved to post... Has a problem.
namecheapTA··on Show HN: Radiopaper – Troll-resistant public conversations
I don't get it. As if echo chambers weren't already bad enough.
namecheapTA··on Show HN: Radiopaper – Troll-resistant public conversations
I'm basically an expert in retail automobiles being heavily involved in car racing, selling cars for Audi Porsche for over a decade, and have a mechanical engineering degree. The amount of misinformation I see on Jalopnik articles, and the comments, is staggering. I attempted to post civil replies and corrections countless times. I was never 'ungrayed'. Not only did I eventually stop using the site, I can only imagine the thousands of people that missed out on useful knowledge.
namecheapTA··on Airbnb’s design to live and work anywhere
Imagine living in a nice forest home near Tahoe. 20 years ago you had neighbors you talked to and could borrow a tool from. Now you have a never ending flow of new tourists visiting Tahoe staying at the Airbnb next to your house.
namecheapTA··on Report: 90% of nurses considering leaving the profession in the next year
Doesn't basically everyone consider or day dream leaving their medium level job pretty often? What options are there people to make nurse level money in a regular town?

namecheapTA··on Twitter set to accept Musk's $43B offer – sources
I agree, hence the mechanic engineering degree is basically worthless IMO. Even in your example, any person with a functioning brain would understand your X and Y examples. So what exactly to mechanical engineers learn? As someone that went through it, I can assure you it's almost nothing. It's just a 4 year grinder so they can put a stamp on who can do medium level math and put up with the grind. The learning is up to you after.
namecheapTA··on Twitter set to accept Musk's $43B offer – sources
You can get locked up for very mild 'hate speech' in the UK. And I don't even mean hate speech, but posting "I hate these people and this is why", not "violent acts towards so and so!"
namecheapTA··on Twitter set to accept Musk's $43B offer – sources
I have an MechE background from a bay area school and honestly you don't learn a thing about anything that could really help you with this. You either have an incredible passion for learning on your own or you are more clueless about engineering than a guy welding rollcages into a racecar with his highschool diploma.
namecheapTA··on Core i9-12900KS World Record: How I Hit 7.8 GHz on 8 Cores
It's not the Price that matters, it's the source. "Since they were sent 14 this is probably legitimate"??? Are you saying intel couldn't find 14 of the best of the best to send him? 2 they could pull off, but not 14?
