Feels like we're like a year away from local LLMs that can debug code reliably (via being hooked into console error output as well) which will be quite the exciting day.
It's inspirational to me that norvig still does these things. That he gets joy out of it so late in life, that he's still more than mentally adept at it, etc. Makes me feel like pursuing programming as a craft for life is a worthwhile option.
ML is such a beautiful and perfect setup for dependency free execution too. It should just be like downloading a mathematical function. I'm glad we're finally embracing that.
What are people even doing with fine tuned LLMs? I can never think of something that it can't do natively or that I have enough data for to be able to fine tune a task for. Just curious
People like to say that people just have 'bullshit jobs' nowdays and I somewhat agree but this made me feel like there's actually a lot of work being done and progress being made.
Devils advocate but not sure how not allowing reusing mechanics leads to killing off novelty. If anything not allowing resuing mechanics should lead to developers being forced to invent new non cookie cutter mechanics to get around the patent.
I think the pixel art was a bit much in this article but I'm not against them in general as filler in blog posts. I think a good rule is to just toy around with prompts a lot in general and then if you happen to find an image that really stand out as nice looking alone (as a cool piece without any text) then that's what I'd consider adding somewhere in a future text. But not like "ok I have an article, now I need 5 images to go with it let's quickly pick the 5 first ones I get from a simple prompt". Just my perspective and take on the matter. :)
I believe you that this article wasn't written by generative AI. I'm not really accusing you of either. I'm just saying that the conditional probability that an article is AI written given that the images are AI generative is much higher than if it doesn't have those (mostly since on average such authors have likely played with both if they've played with one of them).
That must have been like 12 years ago or more at least because in my career I don't have much memory of feeling betrayed by the information on their site.
This kinda illustrates how dead easy it would be for google to improve their search engine. There's no way they couldn't figure out a similar list as this and just re-rank things to down prioritize these sites.
I guess it depends on amount of talent as well. Lots of people are stuck in low end jobs while the demand for high skilled labor is also high. Maybe some argument is that if low skilled workers can do high skilled labor with the help of intelligence augmenting machines that demand can be met finally.
Since I'm personally gonna die anyway whether this is a thing or isn't a thing, then honestly at this point I've just decided to not care and live my life as happily as possible with the time left (maybe humanity deserves it if it doesn't have the evolutionary makeup to make it out of this, I'm sure there's other species on other planets that will).
