n3storm··on HTTrack Website Copier
I don't see Youtube/IG/Fb/Tiktok comments as valuable content or information, I would be surprised if somebody is treasuring such content.

Maybe tweets, but APIs are available for archiving (more or less).

Which content/information sites dependant on javascript can be found? I always find marketing oriented or app interaction heavily using js and thus unable to archive...but otherwise...
n3storm··on Moving away from US cloud services
IMHO Aws is designed for totally embracing their philosophy and language. You don't understand two Aws Devs talking to each other. Even organizations are internally structured for Aws operations. This create something even stronger than a dependency.
n3storm··on GIMP 3.0
UX was Ergonomics back them, but current term also implies some "desire" to return to application, a tint of marketing maybe?
n3storm··on The US island that speaks Elizabethan English
I do understand. Everybody knows they are not going to ban spanish or put in jail gay-trans writers.

It's all about twisting laws to disserve whatever collective they go after, so their voters (voters believing they are antagonists of the other collective) keep satisfied and vote again.

Meanwhile they give contracts and move money and services towards their friends, the ones that financed their campaign so they can bring the message about the evil collective to the voters.

One of the oldest tricks in the world.

Thanks. Feels funny seeing people say this government is doing nothing or nonsense and has no ulterior motives or implications. Funny in the sense of: are they blind? are they naive? or are they supporters?

Hundred of technocrats and modern nobility cannot be wrong.

n3storm··on Mox – modern, secure, all-in-one email server
You should investigate Gmail do not fully implement IMAP standard so any attempts to migrate from it will need some concessions to be made.

That's it, also Qmail was a nightmare (still is?) Perspective most of times is everything.
n3storm··on Italy moves to reverse anti-nuclear stance
So you think Americans honestly think nuclearly destroying Europe will give them peace?
n3storm··on Ask HN: Replacement for Rackspace SMTP Hosting?
Agree. I think they have best ratio between User and Developer friendlyness.
n3storm··on Mark Cuban offers to fund former 18f employees
Reality at least in Europe is big companies come from big burguesse families and they know how to masquerade themselves in order to keep being attached to government (no matter the color). Like oligarchy in disguise.

n3storm··on Bald eagles are thriving again after near extinction
We don't fully know (and probably never will) how many genetic diversity has been lost in USA population, subspecies, etc.

I know you won't but It feels you are about to thank us humans to make bald eagle population lower so their diseases didn't spread. Living in Europe this flow of thoughs it's been heard so much.

I read heading and thought jumped: How are they gonna test eggs for phentanyl?
n3storm··on Writing a Gimp 3.0 Plugin
I made gimp tutorials in spanish, courses for teachers and demos, twenty years ago. Also Sodipodi an Audacity. I have been downvoted, but there are not enough downvoted that make me change the comments I heard and read for this year's: keybindings and CMYK and pantone, these two last from people who will never paper printed their designs.

Also remember for million time they will never use it because it doesn't have exact keys as their proprietary contents kidnapper software.

n3storm··on RustDesk – open-source alternative to TeamViewer
Works great both Windows and Linux. Only difference I noticed with Teamviewer is that it asks for windows Administrator permission to take control meanwhile Teamviewer I think it does not.

Apart from that (and if you tell your users in advance it means nothing) experience is on par.

I also installed my own server for vanity domain but went back to free cause I was not vane anymore.

It saves a ton of time creating. It wastes a lot of time maintaining and cleaning up infections and debugging poor performance.

Is like Dreamweaver but you have to run Dreamweaver all the time your site has visitors and an instance of Dreamweaver for each visitor.

n3storm··on Self-Hostable Form Back End – OSS Alternative to Formspree
Also, we have tried in the past a Nocodb json field but was buggy. Nocodb 0.260 has been recently released and we would like to give it a try again to store extra data in some forms, like "Type of enquiry" or Support like contact forms, without having to create a table for each case.

We are succesfully using Nocodb as a Headless CMS too (for +10 microsites)

n3storm··on Self-Hostable Form Back End – OSS Alternative to Formspree
We store submitted data for a while and purge periodically.

We have implemented a multitenant table for multiple websites, depending on which site has been contacted a different webhook is triggered for notification.

n3storm··on Self-Hostable Form Back End – OSS Alternative to Formspree
We have really easily implemented this service with Nocodb. I think the only feature missing would be the pow catpcha.

I would like to have a moment in my life to write down how we have done it.
