mycroft-holmes··on I'm Begging for Work
Yeah, the fact that political views are an issue for this CEO is a sign that I'd never want to work with this CEO.
mycroft-holmes··on Tinder and the Dawn of the “Dating Apocalypse”
People like to complain even when they create their own problems.
mycroft-holmes··on Sexist Reactions to an Ad Spark #ILookLikeAnEngineer Campaign
Exactly. I've been told I don't look like an engineer but it doesn't matter because I'm a man.
mycroft-holmes··on Homejoy says goodbye
Exactly. The new entrant into a market isn't the one who can afford to get into the lobbying game.
mycroft-holmes··on Homejoy says goodbye
There's a such thing as regulatory capture.
mycroft-holmes··on Homejoy says goodbye
The real question to ask in this case is whether those regulations should be there in the first place.
mycroft-holmes··on Homejoy says goodbye
That post still makes me cringe.
mycroft-holmes··on Harvard Accused of Bias Against Asian-Americans
> People of colour

Are Asians not POC?

mycroft-holmes··on Why React Native Is Different
I didn't literally mean everyone. I meant the overwhelming majority of people.
mycroft-holmes··on Why React Native Is Different
Meanwhile in the real world everyone, including women, addresses a group of people as 'guys' - even a group that's entirely women. I'm not saying this is right or wrong but saying it's an aggression against women is a bit much.
mycroft-holmes··on The days are long but the decades are short
That's just not true. I've seen women online, women I know irl, who have said things along the lines of, "If you see a woman alone in a coffee shop, don't talk to her." Meanwhile, the same girls will complain about how men never talk to them. I see this more and more often within the latest wave of feminism.

I see women on Twitter complaining about "creeps" all the time even when they aren't doing anything I'd consider creepy.

mycroft-holmes··on The days are long but the decades are short
They don't want to come across as a creep.
mycroft-holmes··on The days are long but the decades are short
The first thing I thought when I read this one, "Someone is going to rip sama apart on Twitter for his binary mindset."
mycroft-holmes··on Seattle Police Will Hire Programmer and Prolific Records Requester Tim Clemans
Oops. I accidentally typed is instead of isn't.
mycroft-holmes··on Seattle Police Will Hire Programmer and Prolific Records Requester Tim Clemans
Exactly. The government is going to be receptive to an activist asking them to stop bulk data collection and mass surveillance because they're trying to change from within.
mycroft-holmes··on Albert Hofmann discovers the effects of LSD (1943)
Do you have any friends who smoke weed? Ask them and I'm sure you'll be able to find it.
mycroft-holmes··on California's Broken Jaywalking Law
It's truly amazing how powerfully people can be conditioned by the government and law.
mycroft-holmes··on California's Broken Jaywalking Law
I do the same to protest stupid laws.
mycroft-holmes··on Should Tech Firms Ban Salary Negotiations?
I've never been asked to negotiate my salary. But I have been contacted about a position while I had a job. They kept pressing for me to leave and join them. Once they gave me an offer, I said it wasn't enough to leave so I negotiated a higher one.
mycroft-holmes··on Should Tech Firms Ban Salary Negotiations?
Unfortunately this is what's considered "equality" today.
mycroft-holmes··on Would You Let the I.R.S. Prepare Your Taxes?
But wouldn't "reasonable" comments trigger an "oh crap this person is like me" alarm?
mycroft-holmes··on Would You Let the I.R.S. Prepare Your Taxes?
Maybe it's just me but I see a lot more liberal leaning comments on here than I do libertarian.
mycroft-holmes··on Gravity Payments in Seattle Is Raising Minimum Salaries to $70K
You don't understand the parent's comment. Check my other comment.
mycroft-holmes··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (April 2015)
I'm in America right now. Eastern coast.
mycroft-holmes··on Gravity Payments in Seattle Is Raising Minimum Salaries to $70K
Prices would adjust and everyone's purchasing power would revert back to what it was before the increase. Your standard of living would be the same while your paycheck has more digits.
mycroft-holmes··on VCs bet on ‘indoor farming,’ lasers that monitor crops and Soylent drinks
> We have more people asking us to build tools than we could ever build

What are a few examples?

mycroft-holmes··on The Rise of the ‘Unicorns’
Serious question: do they count government money as VC money? Haven't they received a considerable amount of money through NASA?
mycroft-holmes··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (April 2015)
Any relocation options?
mycroft-holmes··on We need a future where the robots benefit all of us, not just the rich
> We have achieved a level of social equality barely imagined by progressives 50 years ago, but economic equality has gotten much worse.

The is essentially the main point of the op-ed. I wish everyone could read PG's How to Make Wealth. http://www.paulgraham.com/wealth.html
