mtoohig··on Beets: the music geek’s media organizer
I use beets and I use Rekordbox to play music from my controller for DJ'ing. The problem I had was how to use the tags and other fields including custom ones I made from beets in Rekordbox. I made a plugin that takes a template and applies it to the `comments` field of the music file which I can read anywhere.

You can see it here: https://github.com/michaeltoohig/BeetsPluginStructuredCommen...

This joined with a few other plugins allows for really great dynamic playlist building. Then when I'm playing music I can effortlessly choose songs to play together without necessarily even remembering what the song sounds like before starting.

I believe you can do this with beets. I have many fields for labeling songs by characteristics or personal preferences like `rating` then there is a plugin for smart playlists that let you define library queries and turn them into a playlist.

Others are right though the initial set up can be daunting though.

5 years of experience as software developer working mostly backend with Python and frontend with JS (prefer Vue now). Made many applications in current location from automated linear TV channel to a netflix clone. Gathered a good deal of experience with ffmpeg and nginx, rmpt, stunnel, etc along the way with those. Lots of experience with Flask, FastAPI, Celery, SQLAlchemy, AWS and minor experience with computer vision and machine learning.

I live in a timezone that begins with hints of light appearing at worst somewhere between 4 and 5 am. A combination of location and our timezone shifted to match a neighboring country for ease of tourist made it this way.

I have lived where the sun doesn't appear early in the morning too and I greatly favor it. Living here the sun can set before 5 pm and during the longest days of the year I only see sunset at 730 pm. Yes, I can do more things after dark but I consider it so much worse since it makes me feel like the day is over so early and I only just finished work.

Then when you want to rest in the morning the heat and light creeps in 5 in the morning it also kills your energy for later in the day. So not sure if you are talking from experience living in a place like mine but I would prefer to return to longer evenings and quieter mornings.

US Citizen living in the south Pacific with 4+ years of dedicated experience looking to work remotely for web development with Python or Vue.js but preferably back end engineer of some sort.

At my current employment I work alone and without oversight to provide services and maintain legacy systems for my boss's businesses and build apps as a contractor for others. I have varied experience from building our own Netflix-clone the local ISP (internet is expensive here) to a local free-to-air linear TV channel that includes dynamic overlays (weather, news, up next segments), media management and automatic playlist solver. My current and almost done contract is a booking engine API and frontend for the gov't's tourism department.

For my personal weekend project, I've recently taken interest in computer vision/machine learning but I am far from proficient in that topic for now. Object detection and OCR is all I use in that project.

mtoohig··on Ask HN: Cheap hosting for ML API with intermittent usage
Thank you for your response.

Algorithmia doesn't seem like what I was looking for but glad to know it exists in case I ever get to that level.

If I understand you correctly about splitting my solution into 2 parts for batches will not fit my needs since I want responses as soon as possible.

I have not heard of model compression yet, and will look further into that. But for now, it seems that I would be best to just pay up for the larger VM that can handle my needs. I didn't want to pay a greater fixed cost per month for my little fun project but I guess I have to.
