mtoner23··on Synthetic kratom is exploding in California
Kratom is banned in Canada. We should at a minimum place it on the schedule list and have it only be prescribed. It's sad that these days all we can think to do with drugs is have them fully commercially legal or completely banned.
mtoner23··on QUIC and the end of TCP sockets
Because it's an extra header. Making data transfer that much less efficient and working to make sure that clients can decide it properly

mtoner23··on Qualcomm to acquire Arduino
Why would any large corporation need Arduino for strategic pruposes. They could simply and easily create any board they want. I guess they just want to take and slowly destroy the brand
mtoner23··on Valorant's 128-Tick Servers (2020)
well of course they would. they bought all intel hardware. and they are making one of the most perfromant multiplayer servers ever. they should be mentioning every optimization possible. if they had amd thread ripper servers they would mention all those features too.
mtoner23··on AMD's EPYC 9355P: Inside a 32 Core Zen 5 Server Chip
For our build servers for devs we utilize roughly this setup as a ram disk. It's amazing. Build times are lighting fast (compared to HDD/SSD)
mtoner23··on Instant Checkout and the Agentic Commerce Protocol
Reminds me of the Amazon echo ads where people bought things so impulsively with a hey Alexa command. I don't think that one panned out but we'll see how well this one does

Yes but not every single one of them
mtoner23··on The Theatre of Pull Requests and Code Review
This is also the system we used with gerrit. Googles PR system. It uses cherry picks instead of branches but it's fantastic and gracefully splits the PR work between reviewer and committer
mtoner23··on Pocket Casts, you altered the deal, so I will alter your app
As a pocket casts user idk why it even costs money to run this app. Just developer cost? Almost all the work is just local on the device and fetching the RSS feed? Anyone else know why this needs external servers at all?

agreed, the trades intentionally restrict who can become trained. its the reason they are called trades in the first place. restrict labor supply to pump up their own wages
mtoner23··on Why does the U.S. always run a trade deficit?
Yes it includes services and we still run a deficit. Trump's definition though does exclude services which leads to the confusion. In services on its own we run a surplus but it doesn't make up for the larger goods deficit
mtoner23··on One Million Chessboards
nope, just like his original site, one million checkboxes https://onemillioncheckboxes.com/

mtoner23··on Harvard's response to federal government letter demanding changes
