If you need an ML engineer (pytorch or ggml) email hz4944554@gmail.com

I have side projects in Rust, Javascript, C and many other languages. I've worked back end, front end, embedded, built massive web-scale distributed systems and one off prototypes.

Yes I'm short apple (as of August 2025 $206 average price)

msgodel··on Bitcoin: The HEIST OF THE CENTURY – Is it a credible scenario?
You think that they:

1) have an ECDSA backdoor

2) are going to burn it on this

I'm not sure. NIST is already on thin ice so they wouldn't just burn the backdoor, this would probably be the last thing anyone trusts from them. Typically these intelligence agencies don't blow stuff like this on money since the federal government can just issue more treasury securities if they're short on that. Finally if bitcoin wallets are broadly compromised there's little value in "holding" it as you can't prove you're the only person able to spend it.

I'm very doubtful.

msgodel··on Ask HN: How to Prevent Bad Hires?
Interns are probably the best way to hire juniors at least. That way you can see how they work for months for very cheap and then make your decision.

It's odd adults don't do internships, that seems like a great solution on both sides to the current stalemate we seem to have.

msgodel··on SpaceX Gets Billions from the Government, Gives Little to Nothing Back in Taxes
I doubt anyone is going to cry over it.

Cut spending.

msgodel··on AI is different
And it's very similar to "slaves will do all the work" which was actually possible but never happened.
msgodel··on It seems like the AI crawlers learned how to solve the Anubis challenges
It doesn't even make sense to crawl this way. It's just destructive for almost no beinifit.
msgodel··on Are you willing to pay $100k a year per developer on AI?
Has it? Google has free inference for their smallest hosted model now. I'm pretty sure that's where this ends.
msgodel··on Meta Leaks Part 2: How to Kill a Social Movement
Yes but it can be valuable enough that it's worth using anyway so you might consider timeboxing it with something like ScreenTime or the extension I wrote if you're on Linux.
msgodel··on Meta Leaks Part 2: How to Kill a Social Movement
It was a big deal when Google started doing it 15 years ago on YouTube. They were explicitly changing weights for recommendations wrt middle eastern videos. At the time it was considered a moral thing because it was done to prevent ISIS from radicalizing people.

I remember warning people at the time they'd do it for domestic political videos, it was really frustrating how no one believed me. It's a little more frustrating that after experiencing people continue to use sites with artificial cybernetics.

msgodel··on The Folk Economics of Housing
I think what people want is less migration (both domestic and international) but that's not an option. Since it's the primary thing they want they're doing anything they can to get it including essentially destroying their own neighborhoods.
msgodel··on Review: Dating Men in the Bay Area
In general, especially when it comes to romance, women kind of indicate things with language rather than saying what they actually mean. Understanding how to interpret this is a very difficult skill, if you don't have it you're best of just ignoring them most of the time.
msgodel··on Ask HN: What "developer holy war" have you flip-flopped on?
>tabs make much more sense. python should fix this mistake. I guess my IDE fixes it for me?

I think tabs make sense when you're by yourself and spaces make sense when you're working with others.

msgodel··on Should we remove XSLT from the web platform?
I think most people just aren't aware its available in the browser.
msgodel··on Funding Open Source like public infrastructure
I don't know how else you come to the conclusion that it's "on the rise."
msgodel··on Sam Altman is in damage-control mode after latest ChatGPT release
It sounds like most of it is just bad communication.

This would be a lot easier if they just published the weights for their models even if they did it with a delay of a couple years like Grok was supposed to. By keeping everything secret and then having some of the worst naming conventions anyone has come up with everyone just gets confused and frustrated. Combine that with the normal rug pull feeling of hosted software and the anxiety people get with SOTA AI and you have a perfect storm of upset users.

msgodel··on When DEF CON partners with the U.S. Army
Yeah that's the thing about counterculture, eventually large portions of it end up mainstream culture so if you like being contrarian you have to constantly be on the move.
msgodel··on What does Palantir actually do?
My understanding is this used to be done via powerpoints shared over email so I guess having SAAS for it is an improvement?
msgodel··on Funding Open Source like public infrastructure
The connotation for fascism appears to be opposition to Bolshevism. So most normal English speaking people are considered to be naturally fascist.
msgodel··on Ask HN: Will Grok win as it will eventually train on data from Optimus androids?
I'm sure they'll come out with agent software for things like unitree's android. Personally I think androids are a complete waste of effort and money. They're incredibly expensive both to manufacture and maintain, impossible to make safe, difficult to control, and absolutely drink power just standing.

Putting a low DOF arm on a roomba just doesn't sell as well to investors though so you keep hearing about them.

msgodel··on Trump Just Militarized the Capital – What Comes Next?
There are plenty of guns in Canada. Last time I was there the local post office in the town I visited actually sold rifle cases.

If you look at the US gun violence data the places that have gun control laws tend to be the ones with the highest rates of gun violence. It's cliche but it's true: guns don't kill people, people kill people. You need to ban violent people not guns.

msgodel··on Google Play Store bans wallets that don't have banking license
That's something for the product vendors to worry about, stop thinking about them and focus on the impact to your life. Is the music festival really worth being chained to a computer you have no control over?

I'm not a music festival person so I wouldn't know, some people seem to really like them so I guess maybe? I personally say no.

msgodel··on Trump Just Militarized the Capital – What Comes Next?
Probably not without cooperation from municipal authorities which doesn't appear to be on the table.

There's no federal police force (other than maybe the coast guard and ICE neither of which really have jurisdiction here) so yeah the national guard is the least heavy alternative.

msgodel··on Job Listing Site Highlighting H-1B Positions So Americans Can Apply
If it's impossible to do right then we need to get rid of H1Bs entirely.
msgodel··on iPhone DevOps (2023)
I prefer a UMPC with an LTE card and "AR" glasses. It's plug and play, works now with no fuss from the manufacturer, it's just normal Linux.
msgodel··on Social Media Apps Engineered Like Narcotics: The Dopamine Addiction Crisis
You absolutely must use time limiting tools if you're going to use social media. Either ScreenTime on iOS or something like bingeblock elsewhere.
msgodel··on Debian 13 arrives with major updates for Linux users – what's new in 'Trixie'
i386 userspace will probably never go away because it would break wine: the stable Linux ABI.
msgodel··on US national debt reaches a record $37T, the Treasury Department reports
If you don't like it campaign for meaningful opposition. Trump was elected after the Republicans were critiqued by the right.
msgodel··on US national debt reaches a record $37T, the Treasury Department reports
So you're saying that if we want something we should vote for the opposite?
msgodel··on Google Play Store bans wallets that don't have banking license
You'll be much happier if you just pretend smartphones don't exist and don't own one.
msgodel··on A case study in bad hiring practice and how to fix it
At least they're being honest. Half the large corporations I've worked for would say one thing and then completely change it last minute.
msgodel··on Outside of the top stocks, S&P 500 forward profits haven't grown in 3 years
>How do you decide which businesses are notable enough?

Are the a non-duplicate business selling something

>Is it the government? Of which country?

It doesn't matter

>Can anyone submit without approval?

As long as your submiting information about a non-duplicate business that's selling something.

>It would get spammed to ruin.

As long as its deduplicated no one would care.
