mrwww··on Psilocybin for major depression granted Breakthrough Therapy by FDA
a heroic dose of psilocybin is very likely to make you confront the source of depression.

Whatever there is under the surface affecting you, it certainly isn't going to hide during a heroic trip. Quite the contrary, it gets amplified, taken to it's extreme - and if you accept it, you'll be shown the other side. And it starts loosing its power over you.

The "source" or your "problem" likely isn't what you thought it was at first either, according to a friend.

So it's not a drug that will make the pain go away. It will show you things through experience, which is a powerful way of learning.

mrwww··on China’s Operating Manuals for Mass Internment and Arrest by Algorithm
This bit at the end...

> Among the acts deemed unlawful were the man’s urging of co-workers to avoid pornography, to pray and to avoid socializing with those who don’t pray, including “Han Chinese kafirs” (kafir is an Arabic word meaning infidel or nonbeliever). The witnesses to the alleged offenses were co-workers, with Uighur names, with whom he had spoken.

> The court document indicates the defendant’s lawyer asked the court for leniency, stating that this was the man’s first offense and that because of his “low legal awareness and education level, he was easily susceptible to being misguided and committing crimes.”

> He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

mrwww··on Developers don't understand CORS
Many beginner tutorials on web development breeze by "how to disable cors" as the most natural obvious thing to do, usually when wanting to call your own API on a subdomain. I think because it sometimes "gets in the way" and how to properly work with it requires slightly more planning than just disabling, developers fall into bad habits.
mrwww··on Jony Ive is departing Apple, but he started leaving years ago
I'm so glad they finally removed magsafe. FINALLY, both cables going into the powerbrick are replaceable. It never once saved my laptop from cord trip doom, but did cost me a lot in buying whole new powerbricks when the cord eventually wore out.

But whatever, who buys apple for the hardware? I mean, its a super nice bonus that it is overall the best hardware, but that's not the key reason.

mrwww··on Tim Cook explains why you don’t need a college degree to be successful
