mrfumier··on 1Password to Add Telemetry
Hum, no.

I had this belief before, that it helps makes the product better.

But I realized that telemetry is used against us. It helps the company push their own agenda, and manipulate the user.

For example, I'm used to update my Android apps manually. Google made it more and more difficult, version by version, to access the corresponding screen in the Google play app, in order to push for auto-update. They analyzed this through telemetry.

Why?
mrfumier··on Cuba’s Unfinished Nuclear Power Station
The competition is back, with China this time.
mrfumier··on French workers protest plan to increase retirement age
As a french citizen, I agree it's not about numbers.

If young people were understanding the numbers, they would go on streets to push for the reform to be adopted.

The problem is, there is an extreme left group, dreaming of the big night of uprising and revolution to install a communist government in France. So they take every opportunity to block the country and mess everything up, even though they're not even concerned by the reform themselves.

There is a silent majority who is in favor of the reform, which will eventually pass, like always.

"european commission non elected leaders"

French government is not elected either. Like all European countries, by the way.

mrfumier··on North Korean hackers stole a record $1.7B of crypto last year
What makes you think a North Korean would like to escape ? They are all brainwashed to think they live in the best country in the world. We have testimony of North Korean even thinking the great leader could read their mind.
mrfumier··on Four thousand weeks
Closed the site as well. Horrible input field.
mrfumier··on Four thousand weeks
Seems nice but I stopped at the first textbox. No, I won't waste my time scrolling tru a date picker while I could input the date numbers directly with my keyboard.
mrfumier··on Why T-shaped people? (2018)
First time I heard about T-shaped people was at a course at Stanford University in 2010s.

The idea was that you could be an excellent biologist or developer, but you always need the transversal skills like interpersonal communication, public speaking, entrepreneurship...

It made sense for me at that time.

mrfumier··on Airlines lobbying FAA to have only one pilot in the cockpit
The passengers interests are lower cost and more safety, which automation provides the most over having 2 pilots.
mrfumier··on EU-wide maximum limit of €10K for cash payments
The risks you're mentionning are true, but I don't see how it has anything to do with cash. It's also your government emitting the bills and coins, and controlling its value.

If you would speak about doing transactions in gold, or having a farm to trade animals in case of collapse of the bank system, like some survivalists do, I would understand more.

mrfumier··on EU-wide maximum limit of €10K for cash payments
"GDPR delete request" is only allowed for treatments based on consent, which is only one of the 6 legal basis in the regulation. So you won't never be able to delete a credit card transaction.

What GDPR gives you, is to know which data is kept, for how long and with access to whom. It also forbids for a bank to give your these information to Google or Facebook, for example.

mrfumier··on EU-wide maximum limit of €10K for cash payments
"Forcing them to be tracked."

Source ?

"To have data mined and sold."

Which is completely illegal according to GDPR.

mrfumier··on EU-wide maximum limit of €10K for cash payments
> I bet almost none of it was acquired in cash.

Based on?

mrfumier··on EU-wide maximum limit of €10K for cash payments
Government has control of your cash just as well. If the central bank decides your bills are not recognized anymore, or that they want to print 1000% more of it, your cash value changes.
mrfumier··on EU-wide maximum limit of €10K for cash payments
Nobody as a normal person pays 10k€ in cash. Not even 1000 €.
mrfumier··on European parliament VP taken into custody
Also important to note that there are 705 deputees in the European Parliament. One of them was taken into custody, which is 0.15%
mrfumier··on What it's like to live in Monaco
They have a famously known video surveillance system.
mrfumier··on Ask HN: How is the job search coming along for people who got laid off?
Paris ? Like, how much ?

When looking at offers there, there is absolutly nothing beyond 70k.

mrfumier··on Using a date-modified header to detect unique visitors without using cookies
There are hundreds of parameters you can collect to detect unique visitors without cookies.

mrfumier··on Barilla passive cooker
No it's not.

The most efficient (and fastest) way is an induction hob with copper disc pan. Something that Technology Connections didn't include in his video.

mrfumier··on Former WSJ reporter says law firm used Indian hackers to sabotage his career
If this "journalist" consider emails to be a safe way to communicate, then he deserves to be fired.
mrfumier··on Every single time I open your software, I'm asked to download an update
I have always disabled the automatic updates of Android apps on my phone in Google Play. I occasionaly go there and trigger the update manually.

Over the years, I've seen this operation to become more and more complicated to do. It's now hidden in the profile options. Shame on you Google!

mrfumier··on GDPR for Developers by Example
Lot of inaccuracy and wrong information in that page. I wouldn't recommend it.
