Well, Avro embeds the schema with the messages, and deserializing the message will default to using that schema.
I think JSON is great for a one-off, but I'd hate to be on a team that doesn't schema their data exchange formats.
Would you consider a PC as an 'open' console for this context? If not, what would differ?
It has a lot of theory, which may not be terribly interesting if you just want to learn to build a compiler, but it's complete and the language you're building the compiler for has a little bit of everything.
I've actually used their product, and I'm in the same boat as you because of it.
Every tool can't be everything to everybody.
At the beginning of my career, there's no way I could do Rails, but nowadays, I'm just not interested in anything but.
It was a poor fit with our cloud-based infrastructure, and once the mnesia database began corrupting itself weekly, requiring a full rebuild, it was an easy decision to move to another solution for what we were using it for.

FUCK1 MEEEE EEEEE EEEEE EEEEE
(This is not the same as the better known FUCKM E1111 11111 11111 11111 password - you start with more stuff.)
I'm currently fighting with redis-rails in particular, as bundler doesn't seem to be seeing the dependency change in a nested gem.
I am wading through my Gemfile (over 200 gems counting direct and indirect dependencies) at the moment trying to give the RC a shot, but it's going to be difficult to justify spending much more time on it, unfortunately.
Help! Get help on using Storm Bar
and nothing else. I can't click anything. What am I supposed to be doing with this?
Switching find syntax over is rather simple, though tedious.
Gemifying a plugin takes 30 minutes or less in my experience. It will take more time if you haven't done it before, and more time beyond that if you've never made a gem before.
urlview.sh is pretty awful, mis-parsing urls constantly for me. I then discovered extract_url.pl[1], which is much, much better.
offlineimap likes to hang randomly - mail just stops coming in and the process never stops, requiring me to remove the lockfile by hand, then kill the process. I haven't found a replacement for it, unfortunately. Definitely open to suggestions on this front.
The linked view_attachment.sh file has problems, for example, with files with multiple dots in the filename (among others). I have made a few tweaks[2] to it to make it more robust. It still has a few issues, but I've found it to work better for the most part.
msmtp is probably unnecessary nowadays if you have a typical setup. For GMail, add the lines:
set smtp_url = smtp://your@email.com@smtp.gmail.com:587/
set smtp_pass = mah_password
to .muttrc and you should be ready to go.I also wrote a very small, crappy applescript launcher to launch an iTerm with mutt from the OSX dock[3]. It won't open a second copy if already running, but I haven't been able to figure out how to display a badge on the dock to denote unread mail. It may not be possible.

It's certainly possible it was scheduled, but it's not clear where that downtime is announced if so.
