Interesting post, and I do agree, it is important.

Your testimonials example is good, and is definitely a reason to promote the idea, but as with anything, I suppose there are several different angles on this. In the case that you use AJAX to drive a "linear" process (say a series of login screens), there's no advantage to having Step 5 indexed and accessible, without ever beginning at Step 1.

Worst case, we can always fall back to the flash band-aid, keep the same HTML content all on the same page, just place it -10000 off-screen where only the robots can locate it...but this, along with the "right way to do this for SEO" above are labor intensive...

Interesting, is this yours? Or do you know if the planned rollout includes events other than just Church services?

Isn't CSS3 supposed to have an opacity setting (little use considering not every browser supports it now, but, might be something to look forward to?)

Haha, you have a valid point - slightly easier than a kid yelling "DAD, WHERE ARE YOU?" in a store... I was thinking about that, and thought about adding an "advanced options" tab that will open up a few additional items, like: what color shirt are you wearing? different time limit (preset @ 30min right now) etc.,

The problem is trying to keep it very minimalist and simple though while throwing all those options in the loop

I started this as an interesting way to get people communicating with each other - I'm fairly new to San Francisco, and am always interested in meeting new people to chat with, so I decided to make a site where you can post online that "i'm sitting at a coffee shop, and interested in chatting with anyone around" - then other people can go online and see which coffee shops have people at them - kind of a longwinded explanation for a simple site...I'm hoping the concept makes sense with the minimalist approach on the page. Still need to make a mobile version, I know the JS doesn't play nice with the BBerry, not sure about iPhones - anyone out there that can try for an iPhone?

Seems that doesn't even work anymore...Twitter seems to be completely dead...anyone else having trouble accessing it?

I ran into an old friend, who, believe it or not, had over 30 years (since 1977) of New York Lottery data...I asked him if I could play around with it and wanted to see if I could garner interest on a site, so I threw this together quickly on Drupal - so it's not perfect, and the design isn't great, but, I didn't want to waste my time with something that I wasn't positive would even have a crowd!

Although I like the way the original site is straightforward (usability for those new to the web), vimeo does a killer job at integrating their login form into the site design...it actually looks like it's supposed to be there, as opposed to most log-in forms that just look slapped on.

Valid point - from our perspective we though it would actually make things easier. We use the approved PayPal transaction to then generate a user ID for the person (using their PayPal e-mail address). So you can't just login with your PayPal e-mail address off the bat - but you bring up a valid point, people might think we're trying to phish for their paypal e-mail/password combo and enter it into our username/password fields...thanks for the comment!

Thinking an album search on the main page? Or just one on the CD listings page? That page (albums.php) is so ugly right now, I didn't even know where to add one, but I like the idea.

Thanks for the feedback run4yourlives! We debated the RIAA bit for awhile, and they seem to clearly state "renting, leasing, etc.," of a CD is illegal, the theory behind the site would be we're assisting each person on the list to sell the CD to the next user (convoluted, I know, but think eBay in a strange way)

Design is a little shabby and definitely needs work, but, work in progress...what I really need is the Google mindset of always being in "BETA"
